When the boss isn't around..
You walk into the car repair shop, with a contact card in hand. There was a loose piece of cardboard atop the door you entered. It seemed out of place, but perhaps a bell used to be in its place. This place seemed like it was ran by someone who is very careless. The sign on the door says "owner out for lunch, don't come in", but the door was neither locked or closed. You shrugged that off as you had more important things to do.
Looking around the empty room filled with screwdrivers, wrenches, scattered wires and discarded dirty rags scattered around the tiled floor, your only company is the smell of rubber tires and various oils in the air. Alarmingly, the smell of smoke is present too. Someone had been lighting cigarettes. And judging by how strong the smell is, the smoker is still there.
To your left is a door with a sheet of paper taped to it that says "staff only" and the smell seems to be coming from there. There is an open crack to the door, with a faint sound of filtered motorcycles emitting from it. A television perhaps? Someone really is here.
You approach the door, with your loose fist held up in front of you ready to start knocking, when your foot had caught one of the wires and pulled your foot in the opposite direction. You lose balance and land your face to the open door, swinging it open as you fell to the ground.
You groan to yourself in pain and self annoyance towards your clumsiness, stumbling to get back up. You were already on your knees when a yellow sight had stopped you on your path.
Feet. The soles that were connected to a being on a couch. A lizard who looks like he hadn't moved an inch since you fell through the open door. He looked down at your face, a few inches to the side of his crossed feet resting on the table. He was the one watching TV, and it seems he's annoyed that you interrupted him.
"The boss is out for lunch, and I'm busy. Come back later." He blew smoke out of his mouth, looking away as he ended his stern sentence.
...
Actually I don't have a story prepared. This picture was sketched, lined, and colored in an impromptu fashion, similar to the story. Sadly I'm a better artist than a writer and didn't know what to end the story with. XD

Heh - that story does set up the moment nicely. And dannnnng... what a nice pair of soles! I like the choice of pose for how it shows each of the feet from a bit different angle. The toes on his right foot look SO good how you have them posed. And lovely sole-wrinkles too. I would have SO much trouble getting up and prying myself away from that sight.
Definitely liked it! Crossing at the ankles often allows for two unique sole/toe views - one that's direct sole, one that's more the side and toes. It's a great way to show off more of the structure of the character's feet. You really did a nice job of it here.
And yes, came across pretty well. :)
