"Photo-Op: John Lennon Memorial, Central Park / 6-26-17"
For "Throwback Thursday", I have the second of two 'photo-ops', taken (with my disposable camera) at Central Park in New York City - during my reunion with anthroartist Steven Scharff (a contributor to "Rowrbrazzle"), who I hadn't seen since 1993...
We'd entered Central Park from its western entrance (off of Seventh Avenue), near the Dakota - which used to be the home of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In remembrance of Lennon (following his ill-fated assassination in 1980), a section of the park was renamed Strawberry Fields (after a Beatles song of the same name). The main attraction of this section is a special memorial consisting of a large circle of tiles with one word in the center of it: IMAGINE (based on the song that John wrote). Steven and I each took a picture of said memorial.
(My only regret was that my brother Glenn was unable to join us in Strawberry Fields, as he was the Beatles fanatic of our family - collecting lots of memorabilia of the Fab Four, and well as attending concerts of surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.)
