Hey guys, it's the 3rd one for the month and I decided to go with a classic.
Let's go oldschool.!
La Gloria Cubana Classico:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan
Pre-Light/Construction:
From the look and feel of this one was bringing the old school vibe back in perspective, and you gotta admire the classics for keeping up with today's standards. The light Brown Chocolate wrapper was nice in appearance. A bit oily and firm to the touch. The veins were light and the seems were really pressed neatly together. The band still had the lovely lady posing, but more of a classical nostalgic look to it thus deeming it a classic. Let's get to it!
The Burn Part 1:
The draw was medium at best, but the notes of natural tobacco and a bit of white pepper came into play. Nice start so far as the draw loosened up a bit. More and More smoke could flow better at this point. Some sweet cedar notes came afterwards. Not only a classic look, but taste was the main theme here. The body was mainly medium by the end of this.
The Burn Part 2:
At this point, there was a few changes. Some of the natural tobacco notes started to dwindle a bit while the sweet cedar began to expand a bit. Some light chocolate started to come to pass. Giving off a little more of a balance. Usually the sweet notes make balances from harsh notes. The white pepper however stayed in it's usual level until it reached a little more bite. So far it was in a perfect balance. The draw was still going smooth. The body was medium to full.
The Burn Final. Some deeper chocolate notes started to envelope. The white pepper itself calmed down a bit. Some roasty notes came to pass indicating it was near to the finish. I love the roasty notes. The feel and texture of the stick has now become a bit spongey and squishy. The the heat was still at a moderate level. With that, it still had some flavor left even to the nub. With the last few puffs, it was a tie between the pepper and chocolate. Even the last draw was cool. I smiled and put it in the ashtray.
Verdict:
From the perspective and respect of the cigar industry, this is something that the cigar history would give mention to legacy and triumph in a brand. With any new person smoking a cigar, this is one of them that they would recommend. If you see one of these. Take a couple and pick a day to relax with one of these. You won't be disappointed.
Next Week: La Gloria Cubana Coleccion Reserva
See you then!
