Despite all rumours of super-hidden easter eggs, Mew never was catchable in the RED/Blue versions. Only 150 could be found and catchable in the game.

True, but there was still the event that gave out a number of them, so they were able to be obtained legit in Red and Blue at one point via event.

Oh no, I get the joke and like it. I was just saying in case you didn't know of that event. Considering it's number doesn't even appear unless you encounter it, the joke does work pretty well. I just tend to like talking about Mew whenever I can. It's my favorite pokemon.
