The species are known as Brittle Dragons due to their delicate skin, wing membranes, and susceptibility to disease. However, within the species they call themselves Craft Dragons due to their requirement to craft their own coverings for the greater part of the year to protect their wings, tails, and soft underbellies.

Here you really can see the anatomy of her wings quite well. CD cannot fly, and therefore her wings have strong upper claws for climbing and the bones in the wings are a bit thicker than in reptilian and/or traditional dragons.

According to the categorization of species, she is a mammal, not a reptile. All of the white portion of her body is covered in a fine layer of fur/fleece, that is reminiscent of the modern-day Velvet Worm. Also like the velvet worm, she has small nubs of color along her body, as is common among her kind. The appearance of any large scales on her head and body aren't really scales at all, but areas of thickened skin. It is a disease among her kind that is similar to Psoriasis in humans. She chooses to ignore how ugly it is underneath, and instead covers the thick areas of skin with bright colors to show them off. All of the brightly-colored areas on her body have this disease underneath them, with the exception of the underside of the wings. The wings of this species really do need protection, since the skin is extremely thin for most of the year and is very brittle. She chooses to punch holes in it during this time as a form of beautification. (body-modification) The only time that the wing membrane is visible, taut, white skin is during the breeding and molting season of the species. This is when they shed their outer coverings (C's crocheted yarn, in this case) in order to grow. The wing membranes grow back completely and are suitable for gliding with (think bats), which allows the species to glide for reasonable distances in order to populate high places for nesting and protection of their young. This is also the only time that males and females will mate, since the sexual organs are only visible during this time. Milk is produced to feed young during this time, but only for the first month of the young's lives. After that, they are expected to have grown enough to enjoy soft foods like fish, root vegetables, and squashes.
