We've been printing out some of our models with the intention of painting them up over the next few days. 3D printing is a painless procedure but post-processing is murder on the nerves. Sanding these models down was a nightmare and we're going to look into other methods for smoothing. 3D printing is a modern wonder, but some day people are just going to live inside of their heads with devices that will allow them to experience infinite bliss. How can you beat the ultimate day dream? What if you could make a one-time purchase for a night time episode with Krystal the fox and have her overload your parietal lobe? These opportunities are not gated off by today's technological limitations, but instead are being ensnared by ethical and psycho-social concerns.
The thing about a good dream, when you're sleeping, is that it comes and goes. Giving humans the ability to get one whenever they feel like it allows the attainment of perfectly programmed happiness to fall into the every day balance of hunger feed. What happens when you're always hungry for a free meal?
We're pretty blessed over this 3D printer that we have because it enables us to do something that is out of the ordinary for this fandom. we don't expect this technology to remain as expensive as it is now at all. It is getting to be affordable for everyone. I want nothing more than to see this fandom evolve to take advantage of these things. Think about where Augmented Reality could go for furries? We imagine people getting to see their fursonas holographically through some device or a pair of glasses. It would make it the social fantasy that most people have come to FA for. We're sure that there are people out there who disagree with me and like the fandom just the way it is, but these ideas can live in unison.
We think the best thing about being a furry artist though, it isn't in making these sculptures. It is really making paintings. We would rather be a painter than a sculptor, but the ability to do this gives me a marketplace edge right now that I can't ignore. Its not that sculpting isn't fun, it is, we just miss everything about creating an illustration especially the satisfaction of applying light to a form and casting shadows. When it comes to sculpting I have to turn to these entertainment sculptors such as the stuff that Sideshow Collectibles produces https://www.sideshowtoy.com/collect.....tibles-100181/
These guys give us all the fire in the world and I was turned on to them by some of Sanders's old co-workers who probably hope that we're able to pull off stuff of that quality for furries. I think its possible, we have the time to get very ambitious with this now that DreamSail is gone. We don't expect to face much social intrigue over that situation but we know it is coming. Maybe people will be cool with us and just not talk about it.
Well, we produced six sculptures here but only four were made to completion. It is because two of them had a lousy paint job that we couldn't fix.

3D modelling is frustrating but rewarding at the same time, if you're looking for a fairly decent entry level printer then the UPmini 2 is pretty decent for the cost, i have had a few minor problems but on the whole it's been fairly reliable.
Also if you just want to test out modelling without having to pay out for anything blender, sculptris and meshmixer are all free programs which together can pretty much model and fix anything =)
