Traditionally, gargoyles are used to divert rainwater away from the edges of buildings. Grotesques, on the other hand, are purely decorative. It seems our friend here is going to have a new responsibility to protect the roof from pooling water as it continuously flows from his mouth. Oh well. At least he'll have a great view of the castle.
