Here we go - our new song. Nick wrote this a few days ago and we just got it finished - hope you enjoy it!
Electric Guitars/Vocals: Nick
Bass Guitar: David
Drums: Sam
LYRICS:
You wrote to me
And told me how
I’d be in your arms forever
You’re telling me
You thought that
Would be true at the time
But there’s a fine, fine line
Between mistakes and lies
Through it all we fought and cried
But you never meant to live a lie
How could a love like ours be dead?
But you looked at me and said
I think that this could be
Our last dance
So make it slow make it right
I think that this could be
Our last chance
So hold me close, hold me tight
This is our last goodnight
The days seem short
And nights are long
As long as you are gone
You are gone
Without you
I’ve lost the spark
I needed to light my dark
I can’t even feel the pain
No, I can’t feel a thing
I suppose we fought and cried
But you know I never lied
How could a love like ours be dead?
But you looked at me and you said
I think that this could be
Our last dance
So make it slow make it right
I think that this
Is our last chance
So hold me close, hold me tight
This is our last goodnight
You were the sweetest thing I ever knew
You were the sweetest thing I never knew

Great to hear you guys back and with a new song. Also, this comment is by every means meant to be actual Critique, not anything against you guys at all.
You all are good, real good. Everyone works together real well and creates some good music. However, I've noticed a common theme amongst the songs, most of which relating to girls, dating, and sometimes breakups. Naturally, this is perhaps one of the greaest bits of inspirations, the love of a woman, the beauty of a model, or the despair of a breakup, but honestly, there does need to be some sort of breakup of the love songs theme. It's a great start, but you guys can do better. Hell, compared to most bands out there, you guys are way better instrumentally (The fact David was able to do the Slap bass work earlier, now, that's just awesome, and I keep saying this, is deserving of a bass solo akin to Greenday or the Who!), but you need to stand out more LYRICALLY!
Don't get me wrong, I know Lyrics are meant to be interpreted differently based on the opinion of the listener, that's what allows me to listen to songs by Christian bands, songs normally labeled Gospel and Praise, and interpret it differently (Examples include Skillet, Kutless, and Flyleaf, even though they technically aren't considered a Christian band), but when songs are easily considered about a girl constantly, well, it gets a little repetitive.
Also, About the slowish songs. Ballads worked in the Eighties for full length Albums, and half of them are still awesome to this day and a Ballad can certainly be a great hit, but too much of a good thing is... well, too much of a good thing. Personally, I think you need more songs Akin to Firewalker and Awake, fast paced beat, something you can rock out too (Heck, borderline headbang!). Yes, I am a Metal maniac, but I love my Alt Rock, and that's what I would say you guys are, is Alt Rock/Punk.
Therefore, keep up the awesome work, but break out a little more! I've already got some of your songs on my playlist! I want more!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write your critique! I really appreciate it and we're taking it all in, for sure. Actually, you've picked up on a common thread to all of the songs which is intentional. Nick was hoping to make our first album like a concept album. He said he wanted it to follow a relationship - the exciting beginning, the rocky middle, and the inevitable ending. So the fact that you're picking up on all the songs seeming similar is actually what he was intending - although, to be sure, we're working on songs that follow different stories as well. We'll keep you guys posted as we write more music!
And yes - I've been on Nick's case to write a punk rock song for us for AGES. I think we sound best with that kind of music, too. Thanks very much for the kind remarks - I know David is a huge Mike Dirnt fan so I know he'll be pleased with the comparison!

And therein is the thing I did not know, a Concept album, which seems to be... rather popular these days. Still, a Concept album is something indeed good, and does explain the constant love theme. Keep at it then, and I am seeing that love pyramid, from the initial meeting, to the high point in the relationship (S is for the Simple need, E is for the Ecstasy...), and then the fallout and possible feelings of read, despair...
And anger, maybe? Anger is good.

The vocal harmonies Seem to be influenced by Greenday's latest albums. I wouldn't normally say this, but I know you guys are big fans yourselves and will take that as it's intended.
The lyrics themselves, hoo boy. It pretty much characterized my last (and only relationship). Except that I was the one being sung about, not the narrator. The line "But there’s a fine, fine line. Between mistakes and lies." I find particularly evocative.
Good job guys. One thing though, I would love to hear some vocals from Sam. ;)
