tbh, to make it so that not everyone who enters can leave, is not a smart way to keep the place hidden. people searching for loved ones, or say a noble getting lost...

when a place has a fame of being dangerous, people try to stay away from it. And when one goes to explore and never gets back, yes, someone else will get there searching for them. But they'll get lost too, and so on, people will kept being lost in the woods until people simply decide to stop trying. The lake itself has a tradition of being dangerous and mystical.

Also, that's not the only safety measure taken by the residents of the city, as it will soon be shown. I'd write down everything about it, but the following pages are already quite heavy with text as they are right now. So the plan is to talk a bit more about the city and it's surroundings in the following chapters and the second half of this one :)

It has to be hard, otherwise anyone could get there.
