"Phantom Queen" is one of the translations of the Morrígan, a Celtic goddess associated with war, death, prophecy, sexuality and sovereignty. Ravens and crows are closely associated with Her, being carrion birds, and for Her reputation for flying over the battlefield in the shape of a raven or hooded crow, and it was by perching on the shoulder of Cúchulainn in this form that She heralded the hero's death.
