If you ever happen to play that game again on emulator/VC/a repaired system/wherever: that kind of suit never came out of normal question blocks, but rather: at Toad's house, in big question blocks*, and maybe as attachments in the princess's letters -- not sure about that last one, though. It's been ten years or more, but yes I did used to play NES and SNES games _quite_ often ^_^;
* In the second half or so of the game, I think... in out-of-the-way rooms accessible mostly by out-of-the-way pipes. Grr.
The biggest pain of all, I think, was going through the trouble to get such a suit, only to lose it forever to a stray hit from an enemy or some other fluke! Back in the day, I would use the Game Genie not to beat the game (which in the end, wasn't that much of a problem), but just in order to play/fool around in this suit, the Hammer Bros. Suit, etc.
