Shouldn't his tentacle hair have something for it in the armor? I mean...judging by the fact that it's tentacles it's made of flesh and would hurt like a bitch if cut. It's also super long so it'd be really easy to grab or cut, which likely would of happened considering his number of scars.

You could manbun it or ponytail it. Something to restrain the length and make it a smaller target. Alternatively there could me a compartment on the back of his helmet that contained it all in one like a pouch.
