With Hallowe'en fast approaching I thought it was worth producing and posting a scary piece. It was nice and quick to produce, if a little unpolished.
42 years ago, a thrill-filled aquatic movie with an unforgettable opening theme effectively started the concept of the summer blockbuster. (I think you can guess which one. Thanks to Universal Studios for the memories.) There were many scary scenes, but one stood out because until now, the viewer was terrified by what they imagine, not by what they see.
One night, a bout of heavy drinking ensues aboard a fishing ship. An optimistic young ichthyologist and a grizzled old fisherman begin comparing scars. As a result of this, the old fisherman recounts the story of the incident that started him down the path he took in life; the story of being a wartime sailor, torpedoed and forced to leap straight into tropical seas without a lifeboat. The story of how he survived to extract revenge on the predator that claimed more than half his 1100 crewmates...
