So I saw this vintage Buster Brown comic strip with this little girl character drawn in a Gibson-ish style, and thought it was enormously cute. Something about that crinkly, multilayered crinoline dress, the fluffy hair, and that huge bow made me want to work through something similar.

Crinoline dresses are great for showing off artistic merit, since they take so many fiddly little lines to draw.
(I've been practicing on some redraws of Walt Kelly's fairy-tale comics and that's led me to lots of little discoveries, such as this intensely furiously angry teacup he put in the corner of a panel of 'Thumbelina'. I want to know that teacup's story now!)
