The P-61 Black Widow is nearly assembled, which means that soon I'll be focusing on detail. I still have a lot of work to do, granted cosmetics mostly. I didn't like how the top was not flush, so I spent a lot of time using putty to make the top of the plane flush and then sanded it down completely before I painted it. As you can see, I'll be doing the same with the nose panel dabbed in white putty. This might remove some of the detailing, but if there is a way I can improvise, I will. The wings, I'll be reinforcing the putty before sanding it flush with the body, as once this stuff hardens, it just will not come off. I actually successfully used this putty to repair a dinner plate which I had broke by mistake. Due to it's strength, I've found it's better suited for these types of assembly jobs while the thinner parts still rely on the thin glue.
Also, due to the shoddy way the two halves of the plane fit together, I've had to glue the turret into place, which means it will not be permitted to move. Also, detailing will be fun, as I get to do a lot of mod work and I'm contemplating on, instead of decals, I'll be painting certain details in place. I'll be making that decision pretty soon.
