Sheena, 1997 - July 16, 2009
I lost a member of my pack yesterday. Sheena succumbed to cancer in the morning of July 16, 2009 at the age of twelve and a half years. I was at her side as she passed and she went peacefully, finally free of the pain that had become her constant companion in her last days.
Farewell Sheena. Whatever the next life holds in store for you now, I wish you well. We had eight good years together and now that we must take different paths I can only hope that I was as good of a friend to you as you were to me. I miss you, you old furball, and I'll never forget you. You were one of the best friends I ever had.

It was a tough thing to do, to be there with her at the end but it was something I had to do. She suffered enough before she came into my life and as her cancer advanced, I didn't want her to suffer because I wanted to keep her around a bit longer.
I miss her, and I think in some ways I always will, but life will go on on without her. Even so, she will occupy a special place in my memories.
