A story? Hmm...where did I leave off. Receiving my name ahh that is right. We eventually made it back to the nest. The birds now paid more attention to me probably because I was now more defined and noticeable. They didn't like it but they tolerated me. I had undergone the trial of making it down from Ceresmon and it had earned some respect. Even if I did it with a little help. The coming years are filled with lessons but I'll highlight the most important. After all somethings you already know for yourself and others you'll have to learn on your own.
Theos stared up the rocky slope his gaze narrowed on what hanged above. Red tail feathers hung over the edge their owner unknowing to his presence. Suddenly he took a leap and patted at them causing squawk of surprise. He chuckled as he finished the climb his tail wagging even as he was glared at by Chi.
"Fiend," Chi said sticking her tongue out.
"Your fiend," Theos laughed as he joined the group on the small plateau.
"The clouds look really ominous don't they," Theos stated looking at the storm in the distance. It was the reason a lot of the young birds were up here. Only the adult birds could fly in such strong weather but the young ones watched trying to pick up how they could ride such violent gusts.
"Yep it will be here before too long. We probably won't see another like it for a a few months or so. Papa says you start be going above the clouds then flying through them when you see light pockets," Eve explained.
"Wish I could do it," Theos said his tail beating the ground slightly. He was disappointed at not being a flier but happy they could do it. They all were always thrilled to be in the sky. That left him on the ground though always looking up. He'd never be able to reach them would he?
"Mama says flying in the storm is dangerous. No matter how old you are one mistake and you can fall to your death. Its not all its cracked up to be," Chi responded looking away. Chase just chuckled at her.
"It's moving pretty fast. We should probably get back to the nest before it hits," Neo said his gaze never leaving the black sky. It had advanced quite a bit in just a few minutes. It would probably take only twenty more or so for it to reach them.
"I suppose so. It looks like some of the others are leaving," Chase said looking around at the others.
"What's that," Theos said pointing to the dark sky.
The others turned their heads following his gaze. A giant black bird rode the storm its flames burned blue casting an eerie glow on the clouds. In its talons was one large blue orb. Theos had never seen anything like it.
"That's a Muninmon. Its from one of the other nests. It is amazing to see it in a storm though. It looks so powerful," Neo said watching it.
"Uh huh," Eric said cocking his head.
"One day we'll be just as powerful to fly with it," Chase said pumping a wing.
"Race you to the bottom," Theos said chuckling. He started down the way he came his steps quick and sure as he ran down the steep slope.
"Ah no fair," Chase said jumping off the edge to follow. His wings opening up to glide out away from the rock face and towards the nests. The others followed shortly after all of them leave Theos in the dust.
"Geez," Theos said as he came in last again and breathless. Where it had taken them barely nothing to get home.
The rest of the day they spent their time huddled into the branches of the nest. Theos remained outside it on the side least buffered by wind and rain. Their mother remained over them protectively her flames whipping violently. It took the better part of the day for it to pass and it had been constantly rumbling. Not with just thunder either but rocks dislodged from their places.
Once it was over most of the parents were exhausted. They rested in the nests as the children went back out to play. The sky was still grey but the storm was over and the faintest reds could be seen in the distance signifying the clouds were thin.
"There was a good three or four rock slides with this one," said their father as he landed.
"Well at least they won't slide again. You chicks be careful though," their mother stated as they ran off to check out the changes to their home.
Theos raced behind them but soon lost sight as they once again left him behind in their excitement. He worked his way up one cluster of loose rocks. It had to had to have been one of the many slides. He foot slipped tossing several rocks aside. He looked back warily only to see something blue. He cocked his head and dug out the rock. It was beautiful and looked bluer than the sky itself.
"What you looking at," Chi said flying up beside him and startling him for once.
"I dunno but its pretty," Theos responded.
"Yes it is.....maybe there is more," Chi chirped happily.
"Let's find out," Theos said and they began digging around it. They searched for more but didn't find any.
"You can have it," Theos said smiling as he looked to Chi. she was disappointed they hadn't found anymore and was sitting there staring at the stone she held. She shook her head no.
"You found it its yours," Chi said offering it to him.
"And I give it to you," Theos responded chuckling. "Maybe there is more higher up from where it fell....wanna check," Theos questioned looking past her. She lit up.
"Yes," she said taking the stone in talon and flying up the slope. Theos followed at a gentle lope. They began their search once more until Theos eventually found a crack in the wall. it was tight but he could squeeze into it.
"I found something," Theos said his voice muffled into the rocks. Chi noticed his tail though and flew down to join him. They made their way through until it opened up into a bid dome that glowed. It wasn't blinding after the tunnel but rather gentle. Trickling water could be heard and seen pooling into the middle. The ceiling and walls were covered in glowing moss that was reflected by dozens of large blue stones. It was beautiful to say the least.
Later we learned it was called blue digizoid. A rare metal that went for a lot to those that used them. We never revealed our cave though. We thought it was too pretty to be mined away. The birds had little need for money anyway even if it would make life easier for a bit.
"It's beautiful," Chi said spinning around in the small cave; it could only fit about four digimon their size.
"Yeah it is," Theos said smiling. He watched curiously as she placed the blue stone down and pushed it against the wall.
"It's home now and we can always come back to look at them all," Chi said smiling. Theos nodded in agreement. He sniffed the water then drank a bit. A strong metallic tint hit his tongue making it scrunch up in distaste. Chi laughed in response.
"I guess we can't drink any of that," Chi said sitting down.
We talked for hours in that cave. No matter what we could return to it and when we felt down we could go there. It was a small blue paradise for us. In that soft glow lighting I fell in love for the first time. Unknowing it would also lead to my first heartbreak.
Love is a fickle thing it is easily found but hard to keep. You can love someone one day and the next be hateful towards one another. I never hated Chi mind you but me being what I was led to the flock hating me. Not completely mind you but they distanced themselves from me. I left the mountain for three reasons. One was to be a hero; another to find a family; and the third....I will work up to. For now though you should go out and play.
