Blue Macaw's Logo Bunch #133 - Banking #1/Shopping #1
And so folks, today we've come to the conclusion of TheWalkingPencil10's (on Deviantart) request suggested to me on Logo Bunch. And as I mentioned previously, this will focus on something else. In fact, it focuses on 2 sections that I haven't done before on the series! First off, we come to the logo that comes to the section of banking: a section where I cover all of the financial banking companies, whether it be a bank itself or a credit card. The first logo to start it off is with the second biggest credit cardholder company, MasterCard. Founded in 1966 by a bunch of California banks consisting of First Interstate Bank, Wells Fargo, Crocker National Bank, and the Bank of California, MasterCard was intended to be the competitor against Visa, the first ever credit cardholder company in the US. In fact, they even got close to Visa by introducing their trademark tagline "Priceless", which is a tagline that promotes products for MasterCard holders. The logo for MasterCard has been a popular move in the banking economy since it was introduced in 1968, featuring 2 overlapping circles indicating itself as a way to connect people to priceless possibilities. And you know what, they're right. They're still continuing to shape people to endless possibilities to save money wherever they go. Definitely a popular banking logo to remember. Now let's move on to another company that also starts a new section in the series, which is Shopping: a section where I cover all of the shopping stores around the world, whether it be a grocery store, in a mall, or a department store. This time were looking into a department store which happens to be the 2nd popular retail store in the world, which is Kmart. The K standing for Kresge, as the founder of the store back in 1899, Sebastian S. Kresge. However, it wasn't called Kmart at its launch, it was called the S. S. Kresge Company, but then it would late shortened into Kmart, when the first Kmart store opened in Garden City, Michigan in 1962, and the founder died in October 1966. Ever since its golden age, Kmart became the second popular retail store in America (as I previously stated) right behind Walmart. But then the new millennium came in. At that time, Kmart filed for bankruptcy in 2002. The only way they saved their reputation is by selling many stores including Sports Authority, Borders, OfficeMax, and even Sears! In fact, Kmart bought Sears and renaming their parent company from Kmart Holdings, inc., to Sears Holdings, inc. However, a much sadder story is on its way. By the 2010s, Kmart continued going into financial decline, so there's nothing else to do but to close down their stores worldwide. Year after year, more and more Kmart stores started getting deserted to the point that it doesn't even exist anymore, making people wonder what happened to the Kmart they knew in love. Is Kmart gonna go stronger in the future? I guess we'll never know. Today's logo for Kmart is really odd and familiar at the same time. That's because its a rebranded version of the previous logo from 1990-2004 where the word "mart" used to be inside of the K, but now its gone. I was so surprised when I discovered this logo. In fact, both of these logos featured in this episode are re-modernized versions of the previous logos. I guess both companies are stepping into the future by changing their look a bit. Huh. Anyways, that pretty much does it for TheWalkingPencil10's request on Logo Bunch! I hope you all enjoyed the ride! Stay tuned, more logos are coming your way!
