Poor ARA. I guess not even hyper advanced androids are immune to that particular irritation. But she looks adorable, and it must be handy for her to be able to detach limbs like this when she needs to. It would make applying fresh lubrication even easier.

She needs a good dose of flexible ploymer caulking in those joints - still allows for some movement, but keeps particulates out. Does have to be replaced periodically though, like when it gets really cold (SPAAAACE, SPACE SPACE SPACE!!!)...

I know she's a robot, but it still feels kind of morbid. Maybe she should calibrate the sealing in between her limbs.
Also her sensors must be vary sophisticated to pick that up. Most bots are numb.

Sand is one thing, but the real concern I have for Ara (or any robot) being at the beach is the salt water. I mean sure sand will always find it's way into the least convenient of places, and can potentially cause some minor abrasion damage if left uncleaned. But the salt water can and will easily cause sever rust issues, and seeing as Ara's body apparently doesn't have perfect seals around it's joints, the threat of major internal damage is quite high should she attempt to take a swim.
