Turns out that Nathan used too much starch and not enough fabric softener in his laundry, which is not good for clothing (Arthur joke.) Thus, his pants got upset with him and ran off to find better owners. With Nathan chasing it to try and wear them again, they got very angry, grew zipper jaws with eyes, and started chasing him! Now Nathan is regretting not reading the laundry instruction and has to put up with the humiliating experience of running through public in his tighty whities being chased by his sentient pants.
