Species: Lacelings
--Form: Celestine (the greater form)
Celestine is the full body form of the Laceling. They have a very humanoid form that tends to be on the taller leaner side with elegant, slender limbs. Some are a bit curvier, but is less common. It is uncommon for Lacelings to be chubby but can happen. Some Lacelings have thicker forearms, bigger hands, thicker lower legs, and bigger feet, but this is rare.
Lacelings usually have fluffy or smooth silky hair, both of which are shiny and soft. Fluffy hair tends to be big, and in some cases, seems to defy gravity in the amount of volume it has, but fluffy hair is difficulty to style and tame. Silky hair tends to be on the looser more limp side and is easy to style, but moves easy with the breeze. Fluffy hair usually has a wave or curl to it, almost never straight. Silky hair is almost always straight, sometimes wavy, almost never curly
Though they retain human hands they tend to have feral type feet that are dainty. Types very from paws to hooves, less common are reptile and bird. In rare cases the hands are also affected to match their feet, even rarer they are miss matched.
Most Lacelings have long slender tail, at least 1/2 to 3/4 length of their body with a tufted tip. Some have Dorsal or sub dorsal manes. Less common are fluffy tails. Small tails are considered rare.
If a Laceling has wefts, it is normally elbow to wrist, and calf to ankle, as well as on the tail and edges of the ears.
Edges, and where wefts can be found, are common areas where the Laceling's signature feature is found, their Lace.
Lace is hair/fur that curls in on itself to create a pattern, taking the appearance of lace. Fur/hair curls, tufts, and dreads can appear as any style lace that fall into 3 categories. Chantilly lace which tends to be simple patterns or shapes, Brocadera while is a bit more intricate than Chantilly, and angel lace which seams to be more ribbon like and longer, being intricate or simple. Lace patterns are limitless. A Laceling's pattern never changes, but they may slightly alter by cutting styling or braiding.
Lacelings have a variety of eye patterns, mostly that of those found in animals or humans, less common are patterned eyes that mimic symbols, rare are the "glass" eyes, "S" spirit eyes, and the soulless eyes. Not to mention their eyebrows also come in a variety of shapes and lengths.
Lacelings also have a variety of ear types. Some are placed high upon the head, others lower. Ears are also positioned forward on the head, middle of the head or toward the back. Ears orientation can face out normally, face forward, face the side, face down or back. Placement, position, and orientation effects how their ears respond to use and how the function as well as emote how they are feeling. Ears also come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Small ears tend to be uncommon, extra-large ears tend to be rare. Stiff ear types are common, but the less common ears are those that are folded, or floppy. Rare ears are either unusual in shape, have double ears, triple ears, or are fused sets of ears.
Laceling ears are their most diverse features, so not only is there many shapes, sizes, and placement but they also have a variety of ear tufts. Shorter animal-like ear tufts are the most common, longer fluffier ear tufts are less common. Wise plush tufts are the rarest and are used decoratively. Most Lacelings with Wise Plush tufts will braid them and inlay ornaments and decorative ribbons and beads.
Laceling horns are referred to as "Crowns". All Lacelings have horns that grow in as they age. They do not all grow in at the same time, nor are they always symmetrical. Symmetrical are desirable but Lacelings admire unique horns. Most common horn types are "Gaidroon" horns that resemble animal horns that range from simple to exotic and come in a range of sizes, equivalent to their natural counterparts. Uncommon horn types are the elaborate and elegant "Cathedral" type horns which resemble chandeliers, candelabras, and architecture. Then there are the rare and impossible "Colossal" horns that grow to massive and intricate structures deifying the laws of nature though Lacelings that dawn them move effortlessly. Horns also come in textures of bone, ivory, glass, stone, and metal. Though they are not made of these materials they resemble their physical properties.
Special to note that these horns are not meant for fighting, and it is an insult to damage or break another's horn and can be punished by the authorities that be. Their horns are their attachment to their magic and if disturbed makes it for difficult for the Laceling to use their magic and take in the ethereal powers of the universe.
Lacelings have an unlimited color pallet, can have any shape style tail, ears, feet, hands, eyebrows or horns. Only limited by common, uncommon, and rare.
The glowing symbols that manifest around a Laceling's head are personal to them being the color of their aura or a unique shape. 1 to 3 symbols appear, one being most common and 3 being rare. Usually this color does not change, but life events can have an effect if they are impactful enough to change the life of a Laceling, such as a death, or becoming some one of great power. A type of paradigm shift happens in their soul, changing the aura and ultimately altering the color and even more rarely will change the symbol. This is extremely uncommon but can happen under intense circumstances. There is also such thing as a temporary paradigm shift where for a short period of change occurs under extreme circumstances, such as the final push of a battle, spiritual enlightenment, or temporary psychotic break. After this period, it will revert to its original state.
--Form: Phage
Phage is a spiritual disease that eats away at a Laceling. It causes different forms of psychosis and spiritual instability. Phage is not curable but is manageable if treatment is not neglected. Most Lacelings that have Phage will have "flare ups" or a "mental break" where they assume a semi Phage form. Full Phages are beasts that consume body and souls of other living creatures that can move in between this plane and the next meaning the afterlife. This is called "Veil walking". Laceling's in life are forbidden to Veil walk unless fully taught by some one who is an expert.
Cheebles are their reduced energy forms that they use to conserve energy and are also used as desired because they are incredibly cute. A Chibi form if you will.
