brianblackberry was enquiring in his journal about "Guns of the Future", and I realized that I'd never posted a pic of the original Temporal Corps standard sidearm, the M-24.

Based on an actual toy pistol set (marketed by ARCO Toys under the A-Team, Captain Power and Rambo franchises among others) in the mid to late '80s, the M-24 was sort of like the UNCLE Special in that it had a detachable stock, rifle barrel and scope.

In any event, I envisioned the TempCorps M-24 as a .22 needler/gausspistol/rifle which, in a pinch, could be converted to fire .22 Magnum rounds (with a concomitant loss of firepower, of course; the needles would be much more lethal). A photograph of an M-24 model can be found here.

This particular pic, originally drawn by me in 1991 (and recipient of a quicky GIMP coloring job this afternoon), actually depicts an M-24 in "Empires" trim (from  Arik_Grant's series), and is depicted as a pure energy weapon. Thus, the slides on the sides of the receiver would be used to adjust the focus and intensity of the energy blasts coming from the weapon (so, for example, you could adjust the beam fine and intense for cutting purposes).
