It's best not to question it. How else do you think the pegasus ponies fly with such small wings? Equestria is a weird, weird place.

Well the Pegasus' ' have very short fur and are fairly light which helps a lot, plus they're symmetrical which helps them be more streamlined. (Oh and the pegi-corns can propel themselves by doing their special rainbow-farts)
