He was confident in what he was about to do, always had been, even since before he became a bounty hunter. He had found his best shot from a tree of all places, no one in the local authorities would think the shot could be made from any distance through dense forest. He’d found a tree that was much taller than the others, and a clean shot on where his target was supposed to be. His comlink clicked twice in his ear and he raised the blaster rifle he carried to take his aim on the window he was to shoot through nearly eight kilometers away. A man in his early fifties appeared in the scope and a small icon that matched the view appeared in his helmet visor. The shot was clean, but the man wasn’t his target, he was the informant that brought him here for a large payday that was on planet. He shifted his aim just slightly and a twenty something woman appeared in the scope, the spot that matched in his visor changed with the scope and a wealth of information about the woman played near the icon, including the nearly twenty thousand credit bounty for her head.
He waited a few moments to make sure she was going to stay where she was standing. In that time she drew a blaster on the older man. An instant later he squeezed the trigger and a second later a clear burn hole appeared in the window and the woman’s chest. “Well timed, Kelix,” played through his comlink as he climbed down the tree, the tone of the voice was sarcastic, and not pleased. “Had to have proof you were in danger for the kill shot to be justified,” Kelix replied coldly. He climbed in the speeder he had parked at the base of his sniper’s nest and headed into town to collect his Merchandise.
