I've been writing some contiguous short stories taking place within one of the Pokemon AUs I've been playing with.
This journal sort of describes it: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8458908/
And here is a prologue of sorts: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25205486/
These little stories are intended for adult readers, and will sometimes include mature themes.
They are not very well-edited, and may not read smoothly. I just want to get the ideas out.

Well, there's gotta be some fallout from the previous weird evening...
Max spent the morning mulling over what Hertz had asked him to do. There was no going back to whatever “normal” had been around here. Not after this last night’s events… He wondered what Jolt would think. Would she want a sibling? He tried to think of a way to get her opinion without dropping too much info, when Hertz appeared in the doorway. She had spent the night in the barn after staying up so late with Max. “Herrrrtz!” Jolt cried, running to hug the electivire, who lifted her up into her arms. Max felt as though he'd been punched in the gut, seeing clearly how naturally maternal Hertz was. He hadn't thought about it before now, but he did think that she would be a great mother. He just wasn’t sure if making her one would be right for him. Or for Jolt.
Flustered, he turned his attention back to breakfast, as the two females played in the adjacent room. He tried to separate his own desires from what would be best for his daughter. She was his first priority. He was only more flustered to realize that the two issues probably ultimately aligned. Having Hertz as a secondary mother figure might be good for Jolt. A sibling could be really good. The previous day, these considerations hadn’t even crossed his conscious mind. Now, they were all he could think about. He needed to talk to someone. Of course, lately, Hertz had been his go-to confidant. Now, with her in the room, the thought produced an uncomfortable fluttering feeling in his stomach. He hadn’t felt that way since falling in love the first time… Was this the second time? He didn't remember it feeling so awkward. He was going to need time to sort through his feelings before he could decide. She had said that she was interested in him. But in what way, exactly? As a mate? These thoughts were crowding his mind so thoroughly that he couldn’t focus on his tasks. They would need to talk more today, he decided.

The morning sun was warm and beginning to heat the ground around them. Neither of them spoke until they were well out of sight of Stern’s house, on the south side of a hill that had already warmed in the morning sun. There they sat, and there they talked, for what felt like hours, ultimately moving into the shade of a brown-leafed oak when the sun became uncomfortably warm.
Although awkward at first, the two were able to speak frankly and openly for the first time without much worry. Both had concerns and fears, and there was a definite mutual attraction that was ultimately agreed upon, as well as a strong desire to remain friends, regardless.
In the end, they reached an accord, and sat, arms around one another, in silence for some time. Max felt so content in that moment, burying his face in Hertz’s mane, as she laid her head on his. They hadn’t yet decided what to do, but at least they had admitted to the way they felt, both to themselves and to each other.
Hertz lay back on the grass, looking up at Max for a long moment, before saying, “I don’t want to do it right away. We’ll get lots of chances.” He nodded, “You can spend some time with Jolt meanwhile. For practice.” He said, knowing that he was implying that he would mate with her, and felt a little thrill at the thought, as he lay down beside her, closing his eyes. Female electivires went through a fertility period about three times a year, and Hertz had one coming up soon. Max felt glad that she was willing to wait, if only because he wasn’t one to rush into big decisions. He certainly wasn’t about to commit on essentially the same day, even if he had all but decided what his heart wanted to do. He still needed to work out what would be best for Jolt.
Max was silent for many minutes before asking, “So, what are we doing? I mean, what kind of relationship is this now?” Hertz thought about it before replying, “I guess this makes you my boyfriend... If you want to be, that is.” He looked over at her, and smiled. “Yeah. I like that sound of that. I hope you don’t mind, but with what happened to my last relationship, I’d rather not rush into anything.” She took his hand, “I understand. I don’t really want to rush this either. I know this was very sudden, but it all just dawned on me at once yesterday. I probably should have given it more thought, but it all just made so much sense, the more I thought about it…” he squeezed her hand, “I know.” She leaned in, touching her nose to his in a gesture generally reserved for loved ones.
The closeness of her, and her willingness to show him that kind of affection excited Max. He buried his face in her mane and she laughed, nibbling at his neck. It felt good. He nibbled her back, just below the jaw, and she shivered, breathing a little harder than before. She leaned over him, and he put his hands to her chest, feeling her up. She leaned into his touch, but panted, “We should go back. Jolt and Stern are going to get suspicious.” “Let them,” Max growled playfully, “They may as well find out today.” “Then let’s go tell them.” she laughed, “It’s better not to make them guess. Especially for Jolt’s sake.” He nodded and sat up, somewhat reluctantly, rubbing his eyes to clear his head. She sat back, taking a deep breath, and regarded him thoughtfully, mind and body wanting entirely different things.
She suddenly felt very awkward. She knew that she was rushing Max, but had no prior frame of reference when it came to relationships. She had never really had much in the way of boyfriends. She’d never had the time for them. She hadn’t even given much consideration to seeking a mate until now, and still wasn’t certain yet how she felt about the idea. She wanted an elekid, that much she was sure of. And she really liked Max, both as a friend and as a father figure. “How long have we known each other?” she asked Max, who sat next to her, “About eight months? Is this all too soon?” He thought about it a moment. “Not too soon, but definitely sudden. It was a lot all at once. I don’t think it will surprise Stern, if that’s what you’re wondering.” “No, I just… Don’t want to risk losing you as a friend... by asking so much of you.”
Max put a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’m ok with where we’re at right now.” he said, “I think Jolt will be happy to see more of you, as well.” Hertz got to her feet, offering Max her hand, “You’re a good friend, Max. And a good father.” He wasn’t sure anyone had ever told him that before. He leaned into her in silent appreciation of her compliment, and the two began their hike back to the houses.
