Arcturus was born more than three hundred years ago to a village in Nepal. xe had always been fascinated with the stars, and spent innumerous hours studying the celestial objects. one fateful night xe managed to form a pact with a star: stardust entered xir eyes, rendering xem blind but supplying xem with access to fathomless knowledge. as a result, xe became part-spirit with a lengthy yet indeterminable lifespan. Arcturus can sense energies and auras, so if you were to approach xem, xe would not only be aware, but would understand your intentions and feelings.

since Arcturus can always hear the voices and knowledge of the stars, xe spends a lot of time in the White Space between worlds so xe can be alone with xir thoughts. xe can't handle long periods around people either - not because xe dislikes company, but because they exude so much energy that it can become overwhelming. xe would then need to recharge somewhere isolated for a time afterwards, such as Antarctica or the top of a mountain. being part-spirit, xe has no need for food nor water nor even a consistent viable atmosphere.

because of the pact, Arcturus has little sense of identity and doesn't remember xir previous life, xir family, personality, etc.. xe doesn't even remember xir name or birthday: I offered 'Arcturus' and January 30th and xe accepted. xe is ambidextrous, asexual, aromantic, agender and is lenient when it comes to pronouns (although xe is preferred).

as xe is extremely peaceful and doesn't like to engage or interfere with mortal affairs. xe would never use xir powers or knowledge to harm another being - even if doing so would prevent wars. many a powerful leader may seek xir abilities, but all have failed: if the starkin senses hostile energies approaching, xe simply teleports elsewhere on the planet.
