My Beloved
My thoughtful wife took time while I was away to reorganize all my 'friends'! She had fun describing how she gathered them all together and I hope you like seeing all the little pals I have that I've worked so hard to acquire. each has a story along with a genuine reason why I hold onto them. So many great memories.
Although I'm blind I still do have lots of fun imagining what all my cuddly buddies could be doing when allowed time together. They all know they are special and I only held on to those I felt most important after I knew definitively that I was going to lose all my physical eyesight. Everything else has been donated, gifted, or sold. Not that those who are no longer with me matter less but you need to really think of what 'tangibles' are important to you once you go through a major life change. In this case you now see the most special of the special, to me. I also know that those who have received the others are more happy with them than I could have ever been. :)
I think there are a few missing, as I keep those in a very special place to ensure they stay in really good condition. However you see the primary bulk of my collection and I hope you like the creative way my wife got everyone together for when I return home tomorrow. :)

*Snugs the squiggle* And they are all happy to see you, too, Zoomer. :)
Thanks for checking out my wife's work. I go home tomorrow to 'feel' it all out after being away for over 21 days. Oh how nice it will be to be home at last. This little ducky needs his Tina Bear Cuddles! :)

Thanks, Kaffre. *Snugs* It's been well in the works and I'm proud of each piece. Most of the bigger ones were a result of selling something, doing a special commission, or receiving a gift. So definitely loads of meaning behind everyone there.
Do you have a plushie you are super happy to have?

The majority of my collection consists of Giant Microbes which I purchased for educational purposes and while I have since come to love them, I can't really say I have a favourite among them.
Beyond those, I've a Halloween Chibicthulhu I got free for spending over $100 at Warehouse 23, a Duck of Gloom, and the Wee Beasties I helped Kickstart. Last, but not least, I've a Baby Garfield plush and a lamb plush I got from Dollar Stores. The lamb I think probably has the greatest sentimental value as I chose it over some better quality plushies specifically for the resemblance to Edgar, Kaffre's toy companion...

D'aww. So Kaffre has a special lamb companion? I need to remember that when I get to writing those stories I owe you. :)
A "Duck of Gloom"? What does that quacker look like? Would Yosh be afraid of it?
I forgot you collected plush microbes. We saw some of those at the museum gift shop. They feel really neat! I almost thought of buying a "Bird Flu" out of pure relation to the word 'bird' but decided against it. <LoL!>
Plush pals are great pals as they help in stress relief. Need some support? Give a hug and snug for comfort. You can also touch and see them and feel how they 'come alive' to lighten your day. :)
Might I ask how Kaffre got Edgar? Is Edgar a padded lamb? Or is he just a super cute one that helps our kitty relax during the day or night?

Duck of Gloom is a very cartoony looking feral duck plush (no feet) with a zippered compartment in its tummy. Colour is all black with a purple ring around its neck and big white eyes (with black pupils).
Hmm I don't think I have Bird Flu yet (I know I have swine flu, however).
I've never really mapped out an origin story for Edgar, but his standard apparel consists of a blue bow around the neck (which my toy currently lacks). While I've not drawn him in diapers that I can remember, I think Kaffre would be very interested in pretending to baby and care for his plush and so might put some on the toy (as I did some of my childhood plushes - of course, I had a baby brother to provide diapers not sure where Kaffre's obtain them...)

Perhaps Kaffre could get them from Zee-Zee's room? I'm sure he may still have some in there, even if he really would rather not, and would be happy to give some away to get them out of his house. He's too big for diapers, after all. :)
<LoL!> "Duck of Gloom" sounds like Daffy Duck. The mental image is too cute for something having the word 'Doom' associated to it.
I wonder if a scary story with Yosh and 'The Duck of Gloom' would work out...?
Thanks for sharing more on Edgar. I'll be keeping it in mind when I get more writing done. I will come through. Yep, yep!
What plushies did you like to baby when you were little? I got into diapering plushies when I was in my teens. I started with my one Yoshi and really wanted to do Ducky from LBT in one. Never got the chance, sadly. *Shrugs*

Duck of Gloom has an interesting backstory. One of the cards in Steve Jackson Games' "Munchkin" TCG is Duck of Doom. It looked similar, but was yellow with a red ring. Eventually the company made the toy into a plush toy that came bundled with extra cards. Later, Atlas Games released their own unrelated TCG "Gloom" which SJG produced the recoloured Duck o' Gloom upon.
In any case, since the object of Gloom is to make your family as sad as possible, I imagine him being more melancholy than dangerous (unlike his Doom cousin) so perhaps they might be able to make friends...
As for my childhood, I'm sure we had lots of stuffies, but the most memorable were: an unnamed teddy bear in a sweater my Grandmother bought me the day I was born, a Cookie Monster I used to carry everywhere, a glow-in-the-dark bat used for bedtime, and an ET toy we had to get rid of because it terrified my sister. My memories are fuzzy, the diaper memories are of watching my Mom putting a diaper on someone and requesting one for my toy which was granted.

*Snugs* Thanks for the history of 'Duck of Gloom'. I'll see if I can write something about it as, well, I like ducks. ;)
Do you remember what the 'Duck of Doom' did? Was it more to terrorize than depress?
Do your memories make you inclined to like plastic-backed diapers? Or are you cool with cloth-like ones? Or perhaps cloth diapers themselves?
I go back-and-forth with plastic and cloth-like. I only like true cloth as a pull-up I can wear as like thermal cozy underwear as they hold in powder and I like to smell lavender to soothe myself from stress. :)

Both were Curse cards activated on your self if drawn face-up or added to your hand for use against opposing players if drawn face-down.
DoD caused the loss of 2 Levels. DoG only cost 1, but also prevents you from aiding/inhibiting other players' combats until you break the curse by slaying a monster yourself.
IRL, I used disposables as we didn't have a washer growing up so it was cheaper than the extra trips to the laundromat, but I've no preference myself - nor does Kaffre though I imagine he might be confused at first by any new styles he encounters...
Hope this helps!

I've tried to get some G3 and G1 that had sentimental value to them. (I grew up with G1 and like having a bridge to G4) :)
The big Spike is cute and quite cuddly. I just wish they didn't make him like a Pony. Oh, well. It's still Spikey-Wikey.
It's nice having a collection of plush pals to help inspire your work while giving some life to a room / space.
Do you have any plushies you are happy about having? :)

*Sigh* I'm afraid I did not see as, well, I cannot physically see. I'm totally blind. :( What helps me post is remembering the process here on FA along with descriptions people provide me. (I lost the last of my natural eyesight a year ago on December 15th)
Or did you write about your plushies in a journal? If it is a journal I'd love if you sent me a link to read it? My imagination is really good and I can really paint awesome pictures of things in my head. :)
And, you're right, Spike is lovable no matter how he may be. Whether Pony-like, Pufferfish-like, a dog, or his cute natural self.
Did you say you lost some plushies? I have, too. It's sad losing ones that had sentimental value to you. I do hope you have been able to keep those that have a special place in your heart. I've used eBay here-and-there to get those I've needed to replace. Not ideal but you still get the plush and can put all the wonderful memories into it.
(Sorry for delay in reply. I just got back from Guide Dog School and now I'm transitioning to caring for The Guide Dog at home over a controlled environment I had for over 20 days. A bit harder than I thought.)

Public Storage? Eep! I've lost some things to that, too. They aren't well kept and people seem to have little trouble robbing them. :(
Sorry I missed reading the sad fate of your plushies. Please know I do my best to keep up with all I can. However I do miss a lot of things due to having to juggle time with RL and OL. Striking the perfect balance is quite the trick when responsibilities are always so high IRL. :(

I'm glad you like it, my friend. My wife was super happy over all the thought she put into the design of how all the characters were positioned. Knowing they are safe up in the open closet makes me elated. Don't want anyone getting hurt by the new Guide Dog nor our puppy.
The 80s toys have all been found at BronyCon or on eBay. :( I've got them as, for me, the first cartoon I remember liking as a kid was My Little Pony. I still recall the tantrum I threw when I was four years old when my parents took the rental video, I'm guessing I picked out, back to the video store.
What was cute is how I got the VHS I was all worked up over for my 5th birthday. :)
The whole Boy / Girl' thing got me out of pony and more into Transformers. So when MLP: FiM got me back into it I wanted to honor how I, technically, went full circle. G1 started it all and has memories for me. So I wanted some G1s to note how I loved this show since I was a little kid. :)

*Nods* Most definitely. The fact that MLP has gone so much 'full-circle' with me is truly amazing. Ranging from having followed some VAs, like Cathy Weseluck, since that time, to many other fun facets the show has had really does make being a Pony Pal most epic indeed. :)
Are you a fan at all of G1, G2, or G3? Or do you only like G4?
