I feel like the only person on earth that didn't think the ending was sad or depressing though. I mean there were very sad parts, but the /ending/ ending itself I thought was very uplifting.

for me it was just sad. i always wished there would be two endings like the series X. i never saw X but someboby told me there were two endings. maybe it is an anime where is no good and bad person. you have to choose yourself which ending your favorite is.

Aww. I don't want to comment with spoilers for anyone that might not have seen it yet...but the bad things in my eyes didn't "stay" bad, and they "succeeded" in what they were trying to do...renew the cycle of life/theuniverse, and good supposedly cannot exist without evil, so Darcia's eye tainted the renewal just a little bit. I get the feeling folks see the very last few minutes and think it's just a montage to the characters - it's not! It's the new life/incarnation of the world. Then "Kiba" runs...the cycle begins again.

So if that makes sense, that's why I saw it as a happy ending. :)

Hmm, nah I generally don't touch manga. As much as I like anime I'm not fond of that style. Plus it seems on the rare time when I do go looking for manga what I'm looking for is the "one thing" nobody has. :P I'm curious of how it's different though.

Hehe, I dunno, that was -my- interpretation of the ending in a nutshell, anyway. So after I got done crying from the parts before, it ended with a smile. :) On a tangent, I love the episode where Kiba met the lynx/bobcat girl. That would have been a very hard to leave spirit realm...

Beautiful work! =3 Toboe is my favorite character. I agree that the ending was extremely sad. Too sad for me to bear - I'll never watch the ending again. =c
