Entry 31:
I woke up in a unfamiliar place. Mainly I caught onto that by the cheap, rough bed I was laying on. The strangest part is that there was no dream before I woke up. After falling down the stairs, it wasn’t long until I blacked out again. Letting my eyes focus, I was finally able to really understand where I had ended up. Well not only that, and the very apparent IV attached to my arm gave me a pretty obvious clue. I had found myself in a hospital on a less than modern hospital bed. To my right was a window, but the night sky had stopped it from allowing any light into the room except for the glow of the moon. I heard what sounded like a chair scraping against the floor to the left of me. From my angle and height, it looked like a tall tree with clothes and fur was sitting next to me. It was my caretaker, Beverly, who sat their. Her eyes had been fixated intently on the night sky. She was probably thinking far too much. But fairly this time as the person she is taking care of was right here in a hospital bed. I really didn’t speak, but I smiled at her and it didn’t take her long to notice. Beverly is someone who smiles plenty, but this time when she did it felt so much different. In a positive way I’m sure though. I just wouldn’t know how to describe it. I couldn’t feel my left leg, but I could see both of my legs in front me under the covers. Beverly, almost on cue, then let me know that we had just gotten to the hospital and I was waiting to be taken care of. It was hard enough to believe I had gotten a room at this time of night in the emergency care unit. Not wanting to shuffle around in the bed because of my broken leg, I just turned my head over to the window. That clear night sky put a smile on my face. Something about it all made me feel like everything would be fine from now on.
