They're demiarcos - sort-of arcologies that are big and host a mix of residences, industry, commerce, and public spaces, but are not strictly self-sustaining.

They were first rolled out in the 22nd century, and have been retrofitted, modified, built upon, extended, etc. since

Its thin by its own size comparison, but the buildings look to be more than a mile long at the base. Those "thin" parts are still larger than any modern day skyscraper.

I really wonder when humans will start building buildings that are more than a mile long? This just seems so doable with even modern technology, its facinating to think about.
