Now my best bud  vincentwolfe gave me a character who had no previous visual reference which is not only a good challenge but it allows me to pry into the characters job and what not. While I'm not a big fan of heavily detailed descriptions with very little to relevence to the physical appearance to the character. I do like to have a pretty detailed description to make sure that the visual comes out. Especially knowing the character has a job makes it really easy to draw, because you not only know what setting to put them in, but what attitude to put them in. It really helps round the character out.
