Another one with a long story.
When I was a wee thing in sixth or seventh grade, my friend Nikki and I were frighteningly obsessed with Yu-Gi-Oh!. One of the episodes in particular always captured my attention: the one where Yami Bakura turns everyone into their favorite cards.
This pretty much spawned an entire fic universe where Ryou is the bastard demon-angel child of a heavenly female dragon and a demon wolf servant, and said female dragon's evil male half wants him dead.
The story was called Newfound, Hejari is the female dragon, and Selomde is her evil half. The backstory to their existence is needlessly complicated (like everything else I create), but let's just say the gods made a weird pact with the demons when they heard of Hejari's affair with a demon wolf and turned her into a dragon and split her personality into two parts.
The charm around Selomde's neck is one half of what keeps Hejari bound to him, and him to her, and only by killing her child will he be able to become his own being and... I dunno. Probably kill a bunch of people. His ambition is kinda mysterious, even to me, because I never really thought about it. He mostly just hates Hejari, though.
