Good evening, lovely watchers! Y'ever have one of those EUREEKA! moments? *chuckles* Well... about last night...
So, true story time... *leans back in her chair, patting her knee* Hop on up, sexy-buns.
*smiles* SO, several years ago I was at a bit of a social gathering at the home of a local friend of mine. Good times. Plenty of decently indecent people, loud music, low lights, copious amounts of illicit substances, *purrs* good times* As is often the case with my outgoing and open demeanor, I met a young gel and after some discussion we decided to seek a more private place for a more intense discussion of our views on bits, pieces and how they fit together. The next morning we were waking up, engaging in some happy-time pillow talk and I recall... *head tilt* S'funny what sticks with you, isn't it? ... in a cuddly moment of post-coital good humour, she referred to me as "Ryuk... By the context, I assumed this was a good thing but I had NO idea what she was referring to. When I asked, she said something about the anime series "Death Note". Having not watched a single tidbit of the show at the time, I sought further clarification, to which I received some amount of coy giggling and further discussions on our bits, how they best fit together and mutually beneficial hands-on interactive exercises.
Well... years later, armed with some minor details from Ahriman and Jami and my own developing curiosity, I watched that NETFLIX Death Note movie. *ahem* Opinions on that specifically another time- So, now I at least knew what a "Ryuk" was. However, I had no answers still as to why she'd called me that. *shrugs* I assumed it was something to do with the outfit I had on at the time, maybe, colored hair... morbid intensity of personality... I dunno. *winces* It seemed at the time that it was some sort of playful compliment but seeing what the character was actually like, I was still somewhat confused...
*big eyes* ...and then...
Last night at work, for whatever reason, this notion hit me... and ... wow....
You know, I kinda wish I still had her number. *applauds softly*
Wherever you are, love, top marks. Compliment contained within a quadruple-entendre of sorts... Clever girl indeed... Clever girl.
*smirks broadly* I hope you're having a pleasant night, dear watchers, maybe cuddled close to someone you love, maybe just sitting next to someone you can tolerate. Whatever your situation, enjoy your time and each other while you can and... *chuckles, eyes gleaming* NEVER be afraid to enjoy a good, firm apple... *titters* One world, lovely watchers. One love.

Before I was introduced to the series, my friend thought it was hilarious to see me crouched up on a chair with my knees to my chest, couldn't figure out why they were laughing at all. They could barely stop themselves chuckling as they offered me an apple. Several Googles and many hours watching later I remembered why I'd started in the first place. "Ah, they thought I looked lanky and creepy...not wrong"
Then again, nothing more satisfying than figuring out an in joke.
On the topic of the movie....another time, even if Dafoe has a voice to die for *snort*
