“Now, who can tell me the first step to becoming an animagus?”
I leaned back a little in my seat as I raised my hand.
Professor Oflyn turned to me and nodded. “Yes, mister Olcolo?”
I cleared my throat before I spoke. “Oh yeah, you hold a leaf from a mandrake in your mouth for one month.
“Very good, very good.”
Professor Oflyn went on to explain how difficult the task was, including a long list of risk factors and of course the pros and cons of being able to transform into a specific animal at will.
“That concludes today’s lesson. I want from each of you an essay on a famous animagus of your choosing, due Tuesday. Enjoy your weekend.”
When the bell rang, I stood up and slung my school bag over my shoulder. “Finally, lunchtime! I’m so hungry.” I mumbled. Although I felt famished, I decided I would drop off my textbooks at the dormitory and grab the supplies I needed for my afternoon classes.
As I headed toward Gryffindor tower, I spotted a petite witch hurrying away from the throng of students walking down to the Great Hall for lunch. Her shoulders were slumped and her blue eyes were misty behind her thin glasses.
Hey, I know her! It’s Marva! I thought. Although she was a Hufflepuff, I saw her every Monday and Wednesday when our houses had Herbology together. Looks like she’s been crying...I’m gonna go see if she’s okay...
I followed Marva up to the seventh floor corridor, where she disappeared through a small wooden door before I could catch up to her. When I got to the door, it melted back into a solid brick wall before my eyes.
“What the?” I felt along the wall, looking for a hidden door handle or a secret button. I even took out my wand and tried Alohomora with no luck.
After several minutes of searching the wall and trying different charms, I stood back and paced back and forth a couple times, thinking about how hungry I was. A loud grumbling sound echoed down the corridor and my hand went to my empty stomach. What I wouldn’t do for a snack right now...
With a shifting sound, the wooden door suddenly reappeared in the solid brick wall I was standing in front of.
“Alright!” Before the door could disappear again, I quickly opened it and slipped inside, shutting the door behind me. It was like I had walked out of the castle and into an enchanted forest. Lush green grass covered the floor like a carpet while trees stretched to the ceiling high above my head. There were glowing yellow lights hanging from the tree branches, colorful mushrooms growing out of the grass, and even a small pond with koi fish in the middle.
Near the back, a group of foxes were wrestling and chasing each other’s tails in a spot of sunlight that was filtering in through a window.
I instinctively licked my lips at the sight of the foxes. This must be the room of requirement - I’ve only heard rumors about it! I thought. I just wanted a snack and here was a pile of fluffy little meals, trapped in a room with no possible escape.
I crept closer to the middle of the room and pressed my body to the trunk of a rather thick tree. From my hiding place, I had a clear view of the foxes and I was able to count them.
Ten foxes! I couldn’t possibly fit ten foxes in my belly…but if I was a lion. I smirked. The best thing about being an animagus is the fact we can eat way more when we’re transformed!
My body shrunk closer to the ground and my tan skin melted away into sleek fur of the same color. When I looked at my reflection in the pond, a handsome lion with soft brown eyes was looking back up at me. My lion form had a jet black mane, elbow tufts, and tail tip. My snout, paws, and underbelly were a lighter tan that the rest of my body, and my tummy was round and soft to match my chubby human counterpart.
I crouched low to the ground and crawled on my belly through the grass toward the group of foxes. When I was close enough to pounce, the creatures sensed my presence and scattered away in all directions, kick-starting my predatory instincts. I darted after one of the foxes, catching up to the old tod when he tripped over a mushroom. But when I pounced on him to trap him between my paws, he vanished before my claws had scraped the ground. I let out an impatient road before I spun around and sprinted toward another fleeing fox.
Nine times I chased after a different fox, and nine times the creatures vanished before I could lay my paws on them, let alone stuff them into my maw.
A growl of annoyance rumbled in my throat, echoed by a grumble from my empty stomach as I paced back and forth behind a tree. My brown eyes flashed and my tail cut through the air as it thrashed angrily behind me.
I stopped and sniffed the grass for any trace of the scent of a real, living fox. Once I detected a scent, I followed it to a corner of the room, where I found a vixen trembling in the corner with her bushy tail between her legs. Her fur was crimson and white just like any red fox, but she had darker markings that resembled glasses around her green eyes. It looked somewhat familiar, but I ignored the strange markings as I swiped at the fox with my paw. My toes brushed her whiskers and I knew she was a real fox, one that wasn’t going to disappear before she became my meal.
I growled in triumph and lunged at the fox, taking her head into my mouth and grabbing her back end with my paws as I began to swallow her down.
The vixen kicked and struggled all the way down my gullet, but she was no match for the powerful muscles that lined my throat. As the mass in my throat slowly traveled down, I felt my belly starting to expand as the vixen dropped into my stomach. I gave a sigh of relief when my tummy bulged out and the pressure in my esophagus went away. My stomach gurgled loudly for a moment before I let out a burp, and the fox continued her panicked struggle, kicking and pushing against the sensitive lining of my stomach.
Aww, now don’t worry, little one. I have no intention of digesting you, I just wanted a snack before I - I let out an audible roar of pleasure as the fox wiggled her body against me. This morsel’s putting up quite the fight...well, struggle all you want, snack. It won’t make me let you out any sooner!
I licked my lips and swallowed roughly, as my throat felt rather dry after swallowing the fox whole. I padded over to the koi pond, bent down, and lapped up as much water as I could hold (the pond kept refilling itself) while the fish inside swam in mad circles to escape my tongue. When I’d had my fill, I stood back and lazily licked my paws and blinked sleepily. I might miss lunch, but I think I’ll take a well deserved nap.
I plopped in the grass beneath one of the trees and rolled over onto my back with my paws in the air. I gazed between my front paws at the slight bulge in my belly and purred as I licked my lips.
When the frantic movement in my stomach subsided, I settled into the grass and prepared to take my cat nap. When I closed my eyes, I felt a strange sensation in my stomach that was nothing like the movements of my foxy prey. It felt like the fox was growing inside my tummy, growing larger and larger as her limbs stressed the lining of my stomach.
I fearfully opened my eyes and saw that my belly was rapidly and painfully expanding. When the growing stopped, my stomach was three times as big as it had been before and I felt fuller than ever.
“Aguamenti!”
I barely had time to register the female voice echoing inside me before I saw and felt my stomach starting to expand again. Water poured out of the unseen witch’s wand, rapidly filling my gurgling belly until it was so bloated and heavy that it seemed to anchor me to the ground.
Alright, fine! I’ll let you out now! I pressed my front paws into my stomach and let out a burp while I kept my mouth wide open. After poking and prodding the human figure inside, I soon felt her crawling up my throat.
A frightened, petite witch in dripping robes slid out of my mouth and fell into the grass above my head.
It’s Marva! Well...no surprise there. I thought.
I slowly rolled over onto my stomach and gazed blearily up at the girl as she shakily stood up and attempted to brush herself off. She clumsily adjusted her glasses and blushed furiously as she glanced down at me. “Oh good...you’re still bloated! Serves you right for...swallowing me.” She panted. “There I was...minding my own business...enjoying some alone time as a fox after I had a rough day...until you showed up and ate me! I h-hope you have a nasty stomachache!”
I lowered my head in shame and yowled pitifully as my belly gurgled angrily beneath me. She’s right about the stomachache…and I must look ridiculous, I’m so bloated my hind paws aren’t even touching the ground...I’m sorry, Marva! I looked back up at her with the saddest puppy eyes I could muster.
Marva sighed and furrowed her brow. “Aww, don’t give me that look… I’ll have you know I have a weak spot for cute animals!” She chuckled softly as she crouched down and held her hand out to me.
I brushed my forehead against her palm and let her run her fingers through my mane before I rolled over onto my back (albeit with much difficulty) and stuck my paws in the air.
“You know...you’re kinda cute, big guy. Not scary at all.” Marva’s hands trailed down to my belly and I purred as she rubbed some relief into my taut skin. For a few blissful moments, she carefully rubbed my tummy with both hands, getting water and saliva in my tan fur.
“Yuck…” Marva stood up and shook herself off. “I wish I knew the charm that dries clothes… I’d better go take a quick shower so I can try and make it to lunch. See ya, big guy!”
No wait, I can help you dry your clothes! It’s the least I can do. When Marva stood up and turned to leave, I transformed back into my human form and staggered to my feet. I stumbled forward from the weight of my bloated, wobbling belly and grabbed onto the nearest tree to steady myself. “Marva, w-wait!”
Marva spun around and a dark blush crept into her cheeks as her gaze flickered over my bulging belly. There was no hiding it, even my school robes couldn’t cover my huge stomach, it was hanging over my already tight slacks and my sweater was bunched up around my chest. I could see the surprised look on Marva’s face as she realized that the lion who had gulped her down was one of her classmates from Herbology.
“A-Arie?”
The words poured from my mouth before she could ask another question. “I wanted to - hic! - apologize for eating you and I saw you go in here a little while ago and I wanted to see if you were okay but I got - urp - hungry and I saw all the foxes in here and I got distracted and…” I paused to catch my breath and to let out a couple burps, relieving the pressure in my stomach by a fraction. “S-sorry, excuse me!”
“N-no, it’s okay, I’m sorry I y-yelled at you earlier-” Marva brushed her hair back with a clumsy hand and thick ropes of saliva dripped onto her forehead.
“No, you had every right to. And I’m sorry about all the saliva, I can dry your clothes…” I took a step forward to help her, but when I moved, my comically large belly threw me off balance and I fell backward onto my rear in the grass.
Marva rushed to my side and crouched down next to me and I blushed when I felt her hand go to my belly. “A-are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m just very...very full. Whew.” I caught the flustered look on her face and smirked. I placed my hand over hers and pressed her hand into my round stomach, sighing in bliss as she gently rubbed my belly. “That feels nice. Ah…”
Marva’s face flushed again but she giggled slightly as she ran her palm over my tight gut. Saliva and water continued to drip from her robes and hair and pooled on the ground beneath her.
“Here, let me help.” I took my wand out of my pocket and dried her clothes with the hot air charm.
“That’s so waaarm! Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” I chuckled softly as I leaned back on my hands. “I can’t believe how full I am… I really want to head down to the Great Hall for lunch, but I couldn’t possibly fit anything else in my tummy right now.” I groaned softly as I rested my palm on the curve of my belly and patted it a little. “I think I need to stay here and sleep it off…”
Marva looked flustered again. “I-I’d be happy to stay with you until you can w-walk again.”
“You would?” I leaned back until I was laying in the grass and stretched out with a blissful sigh. “That’d be great… I could really use a nap.”
“Me too.” Marva scooted closer to me until she was leaning against me with her ear pressed to the side of my tummy. “You know...I’ve been trying to work up the courage to talk to you in Herbology all term, but now that I’ve been in y-your stomach, I already feel connected to you… Does that make sense? I know, it sounds weird...”
I wrapped my arm around her back and pulled her closer to me. “Makes perfect sense to me, in a weird sort of way... Actually, I’ve been trying to find the chance to talk to you, too.”
“Really?” Marva chuckled. “I-...I’ve wanted this for a long time.” She curled up against me and closed her eyes.
“You wanted to rub my belly?”
The girl looked flustered even with her eyes closed. “Y-yes…”
“Do you...do you like chubby guys? I’ve got some extra padding even when I’m not full of water.”
“I love it~” Marva gently hugged my stomach before she nuzzled her head against my shoulder.
“Aww…” I snuggled up to her as best I could and gently rubbed her back until she fell asleep on top of me.
“Now, who can tell me the first step to becoming an animagus?”
I leaned back a little in my seat as I raised my hand.
