My progress!! (With digital!!)
Hi, friends!
So I was trying to draw a cute wolf girl for an interview she did with a popular magazine. It ties into a story I wrote...
Anyway, the second time trying to draw her, I erased her muzzle for the third time, trying to get it right, and now suddenly the paper was stained by the graphite, just a little. Not a lot. But I noticed it.
So that was it. I decided to go digital.
I went to Best Buy because they have tablets, and I was expecting to buy the lowest model, which I did. But opening it in my van I realized it didn't have wireless. I have two stompy stompy dogs with stompy paws and I knew, the ports wouldn't last under their punishing puppy paws.
So back I go inside, and returned it, and got the Wacom Intuous pro (Small). It was on sale. And had wireless.
Saturday morning I decided to give it a go. I watched a few tutorials, and tried to draw a wolf girl, and she ended up looking like a mouse person lol.
(No offense to mouse people! They have the best cheese!)
So I tried again and by golly she looked decent!
And trying again my gosh she looked great! To a guy who knows nothing about the format in just one day I was devouring the knowledge. I went to youtube University XD
The last girl on the bottom I call her "Super happy wolf girl", earlier that day I was in tears just trying to make sense of life, and drawing her made me, well, super happy. Drawing that anthropomorphic lupine lady with her bright smile lifted my spirits.
tl;dr I made significant progress with digitial in just one day with tutorials and patience.
FYI I did not buy the Intuos tablet to draw, I bought it to erase XD
Also, digital seems to be an answer to my prayers, as I have spent a small fortune on trying to be able to draw laying down, because after a day of rigorous construction work, I am t-i-r-e-d, and now I can do this relaxed with digital!
Oh, oh, I am using paint tool SAI. Because they refuse to accept payment from gmail addresses I LITERALLY HAVE NO WAY TO PAY THEM FOR THEIR PRODUCT. This is not an effective business strategy :/ I have emailed them trying to secure a way to pay them XD I tried using GIMP and it was confusing, I actually love paint tool SAI.
Also thank you, kind viewer, for viewing this picture, please be kind and have mercy, I am only just starting out!
I need to draw every day.
Thank you.

Solution: Open an account with another provider such as Yahoo, AOL etc. Also, possibly you already have an account with your ISP? I have an AT&T account that I never use because I have AT&T for my ISP. My email is through AOL that I have had since 1999. I use Yahoo as a sockpuppet to anyone who I think might spam me and I delete everything that appears there about once a month. I give it a quick look just to be sure nothing important made it there but for the most part it is just trash. Usually sale flyers from vendors I have bought stuff from.
Good luck!

The biggest hangup for me seems to be drawing on the tablet on my desk and having the result appear on the monitor. I can't touch type despite years of trying so that may have something to do with it.
I can actually draw reasonably well if I hold the tablet up in front of the monitor but that gets tiring real quick.

That's a problem for me too.. I still have to look at the keys even though I can type up to 128 WPM, and I only use 4 fingers to type XD Despite being a novelist lol.
Even though I have probably 10 hours, I am still anticipating the nib touching the template... So that is definitely something that I will get used to. I heard some people print out an image, and tape it to the tablet, and draw it that way, I may try that in the future.

I've always wanted to try out a tablet like a Wacom Cintiq but I don't know anyone who has one.
Back when I was younger I used to do a lot of drawing with ballpoint pens the main reason I stopped was I ran out of obsolete printer paper and I don't really have anywhere to keep them.

I hope you get a chance to try one out some day :)
My friend got a tablet thing/windows PC, and I tried using the stylus to draw something, it came out terrible, and I swore digital was not in my future.
Later on I think I tired it again, I forget where maybe I am just imagining it, but I didn't like it then, either afaik.
Then, I realized, I erase so much on my sketchbook that it actually affects the outcome of the picture. And that that was literally impossible with digital.
It takes some getting used to, and I am still learning.
