Yeah...I had this idea in my head, and since i'm trying to get better at painting backgrounds and scenery in general...I screwed around and did this fast sketch thing. I actually had this image in my head all day, and sorta got it down...
Its not very detailed, and just kinda clunky and blah, but like I said, was just practice.
DUNLAUGH. It will kill me on the inside. :<
Hopefully if I slam my tablet enough times and smother colors together enough i'll eventually get something finaggled to look decent. Maybe do this again sometime with actual lines though...I dunno.

That's very beautiful. I love how you did the fade effect for the trees higher up and further back as well...and the shapes of the trees are really great. Ah...if only I could get my backgrounds to look like this. Simply gorgeous. May I ask what program you used for this?
Oh, I love SAI! I use it for all my line work anymore...but I'm not yet brave enough to test my coloring "skills" with it, haha. This is a bit encouraging for me to try them out soon, though! Honestly, I'm pretty lazy with BGs too, and once I start getting even a little bored or frustrated with them...I tend to be guilty of just letting them be. Practice is definitely good!
I hear that. I get frustrated a lot but sometimes I try and push myself hoping it doesn't knock me into art block horror time. Its happened before...lol. But meh, unless you're going for something super awesome, I guess the background doesn't have to be that super. As for coloring in SAI, i've gone through I think a few different ways or coloring in it, its crazy. lol ><; I just love all the layers and stuff you can mess with. XD
