I was wondering about that. Suppose yonder Green critter decides to cross the tracks with little train approaching. Do these creatures know better? OH! If there are very few motor cars, would there be much of a need for crossing gates.

nothing like cars as you know on earth exist.
closest thing would be some kinds of robotic construction, agricultural and mining machinery.
little trains can stop quicker then big ones (less mass)
and have sensors that see obstructions far ahead and bring them to a smooth and automatic stop,
and blow horn if the obstruction is a life form.
(there were forklift tugs in a place where i worked once, that followed a buried wire in the floor and did that,
and this was in the days when p.c.'s were still 8 bit too.)
however, as suggested, a warning sign of some kind might not be out of place.

depending on whether lananara or post ecopocalyptic earth, it might be a while before signage of any kind appears in most places.

there is also perhaps 'telepathic signage' and other alternatives.

a large enough herd of mooleafs, melonpigs or boks, or other domestic livestock or wildlife could be a problem,
but then they don't read signs anyway.

I forgot to mention that I like the vibrant, verdant glow you put on the leaves of the plants.

Ah. I didn't see you there at first. I understand. The creature is almost the size of a horse, and the train is rather small. It feels like you'd have to stoop to get inside it.

the creature (of species yet unnamed, but inspired by myre's mount, stands indeed as tall as a horse and is quite a bit longer),
and yes, the little train is the size of those at tilden park or of the romney hythe and dimechurch over in england.

gauge/distance between the rails is 18", and yes you do have to stoop to get in and out of it,
just like you would a car or mini-van.

its roof is no higher then eye level standing outside of it.

inside is just big enough to sit in.
about as small as its possible to be and still be able to.
and only wide enough for one adult or two children to sit side by side.

think of tiny old mining tramways and amusement park rides.

think of a world without the population to mass produce anything on a world poor in fossil fuels,
but with brilliant minds who love nature and technology together,
and an aesthetic of succinctness and minimalism.
