Also one more thing I forgot to note: the hair volume is flexible with your style; you can make the "size" of the hair smaller but don't go much larger! The hair is actually excess fur, and blends in with the head at most angles too; notice how it sort of just continues onward from the head (see ref).
I'll do the best I can with this while still keeping it simple! Though I do have an idea for the blood >w>
