Anybody who grew up in the sixties, early seventies, knew and heard about Charlie Manson. If there was a more fucked up individual, it was Charlie.
He and his "Family" were responsible for the Murders of 11 people, Best known was the 8 months pregnant Actress Sharon Tate and the the LaBianca's where the "family" scrawled in blood "Death to Pigs" on the walls of the LaBianca's home.
One of Manson's 'Family', Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme would later try to assassinate President Ford.
Sad thing is, Manson STILL has his cult of followers to this day.
Don't give me any grief, I am not an admirer of Manson, I view him as the Devil himself, and just regret that California didn't execute him in 1972 like they should have. Plus I wanted to use this image of him cause to me it best represents his evilness, and yes, I know, the original image he wasn't sporting the swastika tattoo, but later would, I added it to emphasize the evil that is Charles Manson.

As satisfying as it is to say "enjoy hell" to this guys corpse, I also feel that all this attention is what he would have wanted. The man [i]clearly[i/] knew and loved how to get attention, but then again, his passing means that he will now be an infamous footnote from a rattled and disturbed era.
Geez...
So now, who are all the lousy little poets (such as myself) going to try and sound like?
/sarc
(btw, if you don't get the above comment, it's a reference to some Leonard Cohen lyrics from his song: The Future)
You'll see a woman hanging upside-down
her features covered by her fallen gown,
and all the lousy little poets comin' round
tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson...
And the white man dancin'.

There were a few outside the notorious 7 and I also included Tate's 8th month baby in the total.
Plus the Family has mentioned Charlie walked off on that California ranch with a couple people out in the desert and walked back and they were not with him. FBI thinks they are still buried out there somewhere.

Now I didn't consider the baby. At the time, no unborn child could be "murdered". Now, of course, a 8.5 month fetus would certainly be considered a viable child and therefore a murder victim.
As for the suspected murders on Spahn Ranch, no solid evidence was ever found, so they don't count --technically.

Oh, I never said he wasn't guilty of *conspiracy* to commit murder. I just said he wasn't in the same league as today's mass killers, who pull the trigger themselves.
And the song Manson was obsessed with was sung by the Beatles. I can't remember this song. I'll have to look it up.

LOL!! I never before noticed that you have a folder titled 'Offensive to hyper sensitive furs'!
Well done, Rabbi! That was an excellent idea.
BTW I was in my 20s and lived in the San Fernando Valley during Manson's running amok. Even ran across 'the family' a couple of times. A couple of scary times. I'm glad he's finally dead. Should have happened back then so far as I'm concerned!!

A TV movie on Manson titled Helter Skelter was made in 1976 starring Steve Railsback as Manson, George DiCenzo as prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi who wrote the book Helter Skelter about the case, and Alan Oppenheimer as a member of Bugliosi's team. DiCenzo and Oppenheimer of course were Hordak and Skeletor in the 80s She-Ra and He-Man cartoons respectively.
AMERICAN psychopath my ass.
he was just plain psychopath. jeez why are us Americans being considered psychopaths or any kind of evil? Im fucking tired of being reproached for being a member of the most tolerant and diverse community in this whole planet. I hate no one, lest they bring hate upon my life.

OTOH, Rabbi... I then took time to think it thru. You bring this item up. It is a polarizing thing, a meme and makes many of us think. Yes, my immediate feelings condemn your umh tribute, but it is I see a piece of our history. Not a good one to be sure. I remember many of the details. Yeah, keep doing stuff lire this. Remind us all that no we ain't perfect. (hell I can't wait to see your tribute to Hillerah & Bill some day)
Between losing a rock guitarist, a country singer, an angel and a partridge it just goes to show how much of a polarizing figure Manson was. His death was bigger news than all of them. Though after losing a co worker to a heart attack over the weekend, that to me was bigger than all of them put together.
hate to mention this but he was also a songwriter some of his work was used if memory serves me about Beach boys use one of his songs as well as guns and roses the spaghetti incident album used one of his songs only reason I even know this is they brought it up on the radio the other day.god can't believe that his called actually still exists I thought it only consisted of a handful of members that all got locked up for murder back in the day.your from what I've read here telling me he didn't actually kill anybody by himself but lead others to do so ?
