Chapter 22 of Werewolf Tale II
For the moment, this is the version of this chapter that I'm most satisfied with. Alex may yet have a chance to ask what happened with Shane and Angela, though I'm leaning heavily towards leaving that out completely. Seen too many writers ruin the suspense of something by revealing everything about it.
What I may bring up instead soon is a little something related to Shane that may or may not let Alex empathize with him on something.
Until then, enjoy the new chapter.
(Side note: Along with the postings here, I have a new account over on SoFurry, same username, which I will be posting to as well once I catch up with submissions there. So far, only the Ten Chapter Sample is posted there; only Chapter 10 and beyond for Werewolf Tale II will be posted there.)

I think FA's comment system mucked up. Hope this one applies correctly.
What Shane's dad is talking about is something Alex already encountered. Once that hunger comes, nothing but meat from a living thing will satisfy it and werewolves can tell the difference between meat that has been chilling on a shelf or substitute meats like hot dogs versus raw cuts.
Alex mentioned that towards the end of the chapter, with "The slab Shane gave me was still warm, like it had been freshly cut", and he noticed it back in chapter 13 as well when he got the slab in his paws.
As for the situation Shane's dad has set up, which he didn't tell Alex the details of, is his friend is to deliver fresh cut, warm meat to the house within an hour of the animal being slaughtered, and within three hours of the hunger starting to surface. Any longer than that and it'll take more to feed them, which he did describe to Alex, albeit briefly, and which Shane got on Alex's case for way back in Chapter 13.
The details are a bit spread out and not focused on for long, so that probably played a part there. Come the second draft, I'll see what I can do about that.

I don't think that's ever mentioned in the story, I might be wrong. To be honest, there is a lot of nothing happening in the story, it's hard for me to keep attention and this whole meat thing confuses me.
It's not hard to get live prey, people feed snakes with mice. Sure he might need a lot of them, but only once a month.
Or buying a piglet from a farm, it's not that weird even if you do it once a month. The farmer might think it's weird, but what do he cares he gets paid.
One last thing that I see so many stories with werewolves/other weird supernatural stuff that kind of annoys me: You have just discovered that werewolves are real. What's the first thing you do, try to hide it instead of you know, going to the press, police, hospital or anything else. It is probably the one thing you should not do in a situation like this. But I get it, you have to have this way, otherwise there wouldn't be a story, it just kind of annoys me.

I don't believe it is either. I'll see about fixing that or making it more clear come the second draft.
The set-up Shane's father has with his friend is very similar to that. He just hasn't given Alex all the details about it.
To an extent I agree; the supernatural is a lot to swallow if just one person says it's real, and even then, people will try to rationalize things before believing it's real. What I find as annoying though is when the person who is affected by such events, and is seeing their effects, goes straight into denial about what they saw and doesn't put two and two together until it's too late, or near so. Case in point: A lot of the regular civies in Del Toro's The Strain series. Hence why Alex figures 'werewolf' as Shane is attacking him but becomes too scared of how his family might react and keeps it himself.
I appreciate the feedback, DMVMik. Thanks.

One of my favorite stories that takes "what would actually happened" to its logical conclusion, is this one.

I especially liked the opening.
