Male spend most of their life on land to find a pond in which females live. After the male finds a pond with females and impregnates some of them, he immediately leaves this place in search of the next pond. Why do they do this?
the whole point is that females, as a rule, give offspring only 3 times in life and leave the offspring as a whole in the number of 7-12 specimens, where, if lucky, there will be at least 3- 4 males. In short, this species has a hard deficit of guys x)
Therefore, male are obliged to lead a nomadic way of life in order to search for females and continue their generation. By the way, female individuals lead a sedentary lifestyle. The only thing when the female is turns 3 months old, they leave their place of birth. Having found a suitable pond, they stay there for life and wait for their males
These are viviparous animals. And this is a small amphibian, not much more than a toad.
Hikitikis feed on earthworms and algae.
And they are very clever amphibians and they are easy to tame)
