I think it's totally fascinating how roaches are white after molting. So I was cleaning the tank and came across a freshly shed one and thought I'd try some photos. My camera's not that great but these turned out ok.
I also now have my answer to what I found the last time. ¦D
I culled about 20 adult males and fed them to my dragons. They were pretty psyched about that. There's an excess of males in the tank so no big impact. Also now hopefully I will sleep a little better with less of them trying to flutter around at night. ¦D

According to wikipedia:
# Mating occurs when the male deposits a sperm packet in the female. This sperm packet inhibits the female from further mating.
# Females then lay an egg sack, they then pull this sack back into themselves to incubate ovoviviparity.
# Gestation is about one month (28 days).
# The babies hatch inside the female. Between 20 and 40 live young, each about 2 mm long, are produced in each clutch.
So I'm thinking she was in the process and I disturbed her. Oopsie. ¦D

That's actually just her ootheca, which is something that contains the actual egg sac. Sometimes roaches will "air out" their ootheca for reasons I've yet to know for certain. Sometimes they will actually discard an ooth altogether. But I've watched about 10 different species of roach during the full process laying an egg, and the only part that actually comes out is the egg, not the entire ootheca. So I don't know what is up with that wiki article o_O Anyways, woo roaches 83
