I've had this necklace for at least 6 years now. At one point during art class we had to create clothing using recycled material, which would be showcased during the end-of-year show. I specifically remember not making any for some reason or another, helping other people make theirs instead. Now, the only other guy in our class was making a hawaiian skirt out of old buttons, which he had a tin full of. I found this one (yes, it was once a button) in the tin and got permission to keep it. At the time it had a ring screwed into the back of it, so I can immagine it was a decorative button or used on a pretty old peice of clothing.
Anyways, I took the ring out from behind and had my dad make a hole through it so I could use it as a pendant. The hole my father drilled into it broke off twice, but the third hole's been solid for at least 4 years.
I still have no idea if that symbol is an old brand's symbol or whatever, and I'd like to know, but since then, I've been using the symbol as the Messenger Symbol, the Messengers being an old RP our gang used to do in Diablo 2.
Taking a ruler to my screen after highlighting a few select cuts in it, I noticed that the outer cuts were 25% longer than the diamond they formed, and a similar 4:1 ratio going on with the inside cuts; see for yourself.
Using the data, I managed to re-create the symbol in MSPaint, using a pink circle as the exact center of it. Replacing the pink circle with Shula's navel gives more-or-less what I had planned for the markings on her belly, as seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/845321/
Of course, I might eventually slip the symbol elsewhere as it is my personal favourite.
PS: Yes, my cameraphone's quality is REALLY bad; that's why I threw the 15% size image in there.
PPS: If anyone knows an affordable way I can have the medallion duplicated before it breaks off again (though the third hole seems to be holding on well), I'd love to know about that.
