Entry 1. Pre-setup of new experiment.
Five hundred and twenty-one years have passed since Teresha and her kind have integrated themselves into my kinds society. The stagnation that held my people in place for so long – all thanks to the selfish elite preventing all but the 'most beneficial of technology' from being made and utilized to help everyone having been either eaten or reduced to slaves by the giants of Tereshas kind – was finally lifted from society. Like I said, I don't even feel sorry for those bastards, since they pretty much deserved it, more so for how they played with those that were suffering on a daily basis for their own enjoyment.
Regarding myself…since I became a top scientist and pretty much ambassador – the latter I didn't want to be regarded as despite insistence – I was given free reign to do whatever kind of experiments I had in mind. Yet, despite that kind of freedom, I haven't really set anything in stone at the time. I had been so accustomed to being pressured by higher-ups that they, admittedly, were a good form of motivation, even though they were pricks. Still, to do whatever I wanted was something I haven't imagined in all my time as a scientist, so having the freedom was something entirely new to me. So much that I simply resorted to aiding others in their works instead of doing stuff I wanted to do for a good while.
Another thing about this is…well, Teresha's offer. To become a member of her own kind. I mean, not as a humanoid cockatiel, but a different being overall. That was another thing that kept bothering me the whole time, which had resulted in me losing focus at times and causing a fair few accidents in the past. Nothing dangerous, but accidents nonetheless. The offer though, well…
I accepted it.
It took a lot of time to think about as well at the time, yeah, but it was one choice that I didn't have a chance to go back on once it carried on through. I know of some of my people that easily accepted the change despite that risk, some a little hesitant but went through it after a couple weeks of thinking. I took up to five years to think it through, and I was starting to near the mid-forties of my life at the time. Even when I decided to go through with the change, I still had doubt and even fear in my mind, since it was something that would have changed my life even further than accepting Teresha and her kind among my own.
Still, I managed to talk to Teresha about it and after discussions, even deciding on what kind of species I would have made myself, went through with the change. I will say one thing, one that a lot of people that went through the changes would ultimately agree with me on.
It. Hurt. Like all kinds of hell.
It was one thing to hear how the process turned out for others. It was a whole other story experiencing it first-hand. The species I went with was reptilian in nature, the so-called 'bearded dragon'. I could only imagine how it must have felt for those who went with a more avian based form or those of amphibious nature. Reptilian ones I can certainly understand, the scales feeling like blades coming out of every inch of the skin, the spine lengthening was certainly not comfortable. The whole process lasted for up to a month, with me blacking out at times from the pain of the scales forming, but I somehow managed to persevere.
To wake up as a different species is something I can't really describe all that accurately. I did have to go through a form of rehabilitation that was a bit mandatory for those who were formerly human and chose to change, mainly to get used to the new appendages, changes in diets, and even new instincts. It did take several weeks for me to get used to being something akin to that of normal bearded dragon lizards, just humanoid, but I was able to pull through and back into research proper.
As for how I'm writing this entry since I did say that over five hundred years have passed, I also accepted the genes that the giants among society have, two years after I got used to my new form. Those who were tasked to retrieve said genes had to find one giant that was the same species as I, but they did manage to find and acquire a sample from them after they were found. I was held onto for another ten years to let my body adapt to them, which resulted in me becoming a giant myself, measuring almost five stories in height, a fair bit smaller than the current average at roughly eight stories in height, but it also greatly extended my lifespan by a roughly estimated four thousand years, counting medical advancements to increased life expectancy. Still, this would mean that I would see generations of humanity come and go as well as even those of the Irrigahni Star Accord before I would expire myself.
Regarding the name of the accord, it's what Teresha and the other leaders have gone with since our advancements had gone on far enough to allow us to leave my kinds home planet and spread through the system, no doubt having eyes set on other systems past this one. They've also had an embassy prepared for any potential alien life that we'd likely encounter, more so due to the technology we possess. It's to the grade of us being able to terraform portions of our home to be more habitable, mainly to counterbalance the centuries worth of pollution that have built up on my home world thanks to the industrious nations. Medication was also another thing that advanced, looking past the prospect of becoming a different species entirely, resulting in lifespans of up to hundreds of years, Teresha being the oldest recorded non-giant at over five hundred and eighty-eight years of age.
Speaking of her…she still serves as head ambassador, but she has given the reins of head scientist to a successor. She felt that she was getting too old to continue any major progress in research fields, though she does contribute from time to time for any minor projects. Despite me being larger than her, I did make sure to check up on her from time to time since she was getting to the point of her life of having difficulty doing daily things.
I feel that I rambled on long enough for this entry. I'll have something to report once the start of the next experiment is ready.

Who remembers the 'One Small Test for Man' story I submitted a year and a half ago?
This is a preview for the sequel that's in the works, which would have quite a larger scope compared to the previous one, if folks can excuse the pun. I won't reveal much past this initial entry nor will I know when this will be done, but I can assure that it will be a much longer read than the previous installment. Once it is done though, this preview will be either moved to scraps or removed entirely, the former more likely.

I like that you put some thought into how transformation would go down that that it would take a while to get used to a new body. I also like the longer time scale, macro that steadily work on making things better for centuries or millennia leave me emotionally satisfied.
I will certainly read the next part.
I will certainly read the next part.
