I'm back for this latest edition of "Throwback Thursday" for my current 'sweeps month' - November, 2017. And, since this is the fourth Thursday of this particular month, I have some very special 'photo-ops' for Thanksgiving...
I have a few pictures of birds, taken (with my disposable camera) at the Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach, Florida. And each of these birds have a lot to be thankful for... most notably that they aren't the ones to be eaten on Thanksgiving!
We begin with a snapshot of a kookaburra bird - found in its caged enclosure in the Australian animal section of the zoo (where it shares its living space with a koala). The last time I'd visited the Palm Beach Zoo (back in the 1990s), a different kookaburra was chattering up a storm (as they are known for their recognizable mating call - used frequently as a 'sound effect' in most generic jungle movies)! Seen through the fence, this particular kookaburra bird was in a quiet (but friendly) mood.
I'll have more zoo birds to display during Thanksgiving later today. And if any of you plan to visit south Florida in the near future, go to https://www.palmbeachzoo.org for more information about this unique place.
