Cranberry day is a Wampanoag holiday that is the ancestor of sorts to thanksgiving today. However its only one of the many "thanksgivings" that the people celebrated throughout the year. Cranberry berry day though is called the most important among the Wampanoag because the cranberries can be dried and used during the harsh winter where food was hard to come by. The Wampanoag would harvest the cranberries the day before the festival. On the day of the festival they would eat, dance and listen to the elders tell stories and uphold the oral tradition. They gave thanks to the Earth and their various spirits for the bounty the have been given.

Now, thanksgiving does have some unfortunate origins along with being related to cranberry day. Origins steeped in blood of innocent lives. However i wont be covering that because this is dragging on now, but i encourage the curious to look into the history of this holiday.

Well thats that. I dont normally draw holiday stuff. Or post on here... But anyways, Its something i felt i should do. I imagine not many people will see this. Not the highest quality work and its not porn. So yea... But so long as just one person sees it and it inspires them to learn more, that is enough for me :)
