It's certainly in the future and not even Earth, bur rather some sort of recent-ish colony - mostly because I needed a story reason for them to park their giant serpentine starship and its escort on the planet without everybody instantly noticing ;P
....get good reference material and make good use of it? Aaaah, I really don't have a better technique??? If you look through my gallery, it's not like I've had an immense amount of cloud-practice either, I just kinda....learned as I went and it seems like this time it really worked out
