And probably write a book. "Yinglet sutra: For proffessionals only"
I could see a sudden book in literacy, and the Yinglet population but, ho am I not kidding when I say I love this page! I like that male...hrmm, might have to see about getting a dirty commish of the matriarch an him. He honestly deserves it in my book

First off, paper thin walls FOR THE WIN
Second of all, I can no longer call Brakka the Eye Eating Yinglet, or EEY for short... *thinks about it* actually, I still can! Disregard
Thirdly, distrust for Biezel has disappeared now that he has shown his true alliegence... HIMSELF! Just hope he doesn't play double agent.

Except half the population probably would not manage to get on the internet. There would be issues with yinglets eating the lan cables, yinglets strangelling themselves with the cables, yingles having trouble finding the computer power button, yinglets trying to eat the mouse, yinglets using the keyboard for a hat, yinglets trying to jump into the monitors, etc. There would be serious concern about the survival of the equipment.
I am sure Viz and her little spy there would have no problems learnig to use a computer and the internet. And taking advantage of all the resources that would provide that the rest of her onclave won't have acccess to for a while.

I'd almost neglected to consider that Vizlet was still a player in this mystery, then we get this little gem and my models of suspects is thrown out the window. Well played, well played indeed. I assumed she had some form of involvement in the story to come, but I had no idea that she had such direct influence on things. That explains her cavalier attitude towards the Trademaster spying on HER. I wonder.... perhaps out friendly Yinglet fixated scientist would be interested in answering some questions. This is just a theory, but if Ran's research dipped into the territory of obsession or beyond, I doubt that's a detail such a keen mind as Vizlet's would miss. If the obsession was prevailing enough she could either bribe him with information on her species before anyone else could get the credit for it, the transformation was intended for him either as a bribe OR per his request. I still am not convinced that there's not an active attempt on removing the current Trademaster from his position, but I'm not inclined to believe Vizlet as the mastermind. As I recall, she was surprised at the fact that Kass was in fact formerly a human. If anything, she's working AGAINST someone but she's not been wholly forthcoming with all her information just yet. However, this does show me that I've been far too lenient in my considerations of Vizlet it seems. I will not make such a mistake twice as Vizlet's gone from bystander to a player of this dark little game on my list. And Ran has himself a cozy little spot on that list too as he's nearing "suspect" territory.
These are some interesting ideas! I don't buy the idea that Ran and Vizlet (or anyone else) engineered Kassen's transformation. They couldn't have known he'd choose to buy a trinket from a random yinglet selling goods, or that he'd choose that particular item. And when it broke, it happened to splatter on him, but it seemed like it could have splattered on someone else. Why did it only shatter when it did, if it was a directed trap? Couldn't it have broken on Lopin, or on someone else who bought it? He also could have kept it secreted away per Brakka's threat to eat his eyes if he lost it. So this theory doesn't seem to add up.
Moreover, I think Vizlet is in love with the Tradesmaster--if so, she wouldn't want him overthrown. I wouldn't be surprised if someone wants him gone, though--after all, this place is technically lawless!

Oh no I don't believe that Kass was the target by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just saying that the artifact in my mind had a target before the original Yinglet was forced to abandon it. Kass was simply an unsuspecting casualty. As for Vizlet, I'm not so sure that I'd consider her and the Trademaster a ship. But I could be wrong! We'll have to see how this plays out!!
It could also be that the artifact did not have an intended target, and the intend for its aquisition and high priority was to burry/eliminate it.
Vilzet is essentially the Queen or Ruller of her enclave, so it stands to reason she has things going on in order to safeguard her people, her position, and perhaps grow both. Being close to the trademsater is good for her and her enclave. Not sure if she is infatuated with him or not though. That could be an interesting development. She is deffinatly the kind to take advantage of a potentially beneficial situation when it presents itself.
There is deffinatly more known about those artifacts than has been let on so far. Thier exact nature and complete effects have not been revieled. We do know it can transform some one into a yinglet, but is that its only effect, or is it random? Is there an individual based characteristic to the transformation? Is there a way to control them, or is it not known. The transformation into a female yinglet could have been completely random as a result of it breaking. There may be a proper way to use the power where the transformation is more controlled. We just do not know yet. Nor do we know how much the yinglets in charge know about them.

I'm so sorry for taking so long to get back to you! I've been quite busy x-x But that's what I love about this comic! It's very intelligently written and promotes thoughtful discussion! I'm singularly flattered that you took the time to comment ^^ And yes indeed, the artifact could've had no target at all and instead was for some internal Yinglet power dispute! However, personally I don't see the sex change or its effects as "random". I'll submit for your consideration the following theory. Given the evidence that we have about the Yinglet having "popped up" in recent years, what if they are a constructed species? Something that was made many many centuries ago and only know has hit an evolutionary stride where they found something that worked, and those artifacts were made to overcome a latent genetic defect in which Yinglets don't produce enough females naturally to sustain their species unless external means are used?
That is an interesting theory. Exampanding, might not be that it was made to sold a genetic defect, but a leftover artifact (part of a group or batch) that was used to create the first Yinglets to begin with a spart of the creature creation process. The origional creators might be long gone, but some of thier tools remain, without user's manuals. Only a select few Yinglets know the whole of the story and about the artifacts, and want to keep thier true origins a secret.
Viracroix is a Very Good Trademaster for the yinglet population. He is a despot (by our standards, not his world's) but a benevolent despot. Who knows what his replacement may be? Vizlet may or may not be in love with him, but she doesn't have to be to hope he stays healthy.
Hmm. Interesting strip. Good to have a glimpse of another perspective before whatever the next plotline is begins.
Does this mean that Vizlet thinks that when Narklet wanted to pull Lopin aside to deal with him, he was going to -kill- him? Without her sentence? (Do the southern enclaves authorize him to do that? If so, it's odd that he capitulated.) Or just threaten him to make sure Lopin didn't say anything in exile?
I wonder what this Brakka guy's history is. Apparently Vizlet thinks it's odd that Narklet would want to keep word of his involvement with The Thing from getting out. That implies that Narklet wants to protect Brakka, somehow, or maybe just keep all word of The Thing secret. At first I thought the exile she was referring to was Lopin, but now I think it's Brakka. Maybe Narklet and Brakka are associates, but maybe they aren't cooperating--maybe Narklet just has orders to keep The Thing's story secret.
I wonder who's on Vizlet's breeding schedule, if Beizel isn't. I'd think he'd be a top pick. And I wonder what caused this unexpected opening.

Don't take this the wrong way, Valsalia, but please put all the answers in some document and secrete it away in case Something happens to you.
I still miss Gene Catlow, and I would hate to see you go to that Big Drawing Board In The Sky without us knowing all about your world.

Oh yeah! When your a a male Yinglet you have to either be very good at a job, have a physical trait worth passing, or be very clever to get some sexy female Yinglet sex for yourself. Luckaly for Beizel he is all three. I'm honestly not sure if he means Vizlet's breeding schedule or the schedule she makes for the girl's. If he mean's the former watch out Kasie not even the matriarch can keep you away from the clan's male Yinglet's forever. Sooner or later she will have to do her female duty to the clan.
Here's hoping Kasie will be have come to accept it when she has to start her breeding schedule.

he's probably been trained from a young age by Vizlet, and/or apprenticed to a human spymaster where he learned his craft. The Patriarch of Hunting is comparably well-spoken, albeit a lot more crass - but that wasn't "On-business", and I get the impression that Patr. Poak can bandy words with Vizlet when needed.
Homagawd, the reason I keep coming back isn't the plot, it's not the character building of this Patriarch, and it's not the relationship development...
It's that fucking banner!
I love the small detail and the afterthought you posted in the description about it, and that extra little bit of Lippie's character that I find so adorable, that I can't help but come back, read it all again, and squee as a little warm fuzzie grows in my heart... or my stomach, but that might have just been the moldy sandwich I ate...
... Wow, that was one helluva run-on sentence...

Revisiting this page, from a breeding/management perspective, he would be a good one to pair up with her considering he seams to be on her level when it comes to intelligence, learning and thinking ability. Hopefully any offspring they would produce would inherit their mental potential.
