Heh, my dad worked for Westinghouse as a machinist. One day a "Process Engineer" came in to make things more productive. My dad worked the big lathe. Big as in he machined bearings for nuclear subs. These things were 15' in diameter with a +/- .005" tolerance. Those were fun days...
Anyways, my dad is doing his job when this guy tells him: "Increase speed to 2000 RPM"
My dad complies. The cut is going faster, and the tool is not melting off. Both good signs...
"Increase speed to 3000 RPM"
Ok... That's a lot of wind coming off the lathe now...
"Increase speed to 4000 RPM"
The floor starts to vibrate. (It is made of solid concrete, mind you)
>Oo< ... "How about I get into the control room up there, and you come down here next to the three ton spinning object and you can take it to 10,000 RPM!"
...
"Take it back to 2500..."
Communication is vital in the workplace! =^^=
