Raccoon Radio (Patreon Audioblog #3) - Oct 19, 2017
Inspired by a game developer friend of mine (go back his Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/blazehedgehog ), this is part of a series of audio blog updates I made to cover developments over a period of time, mixed with some text blogs. Dubbed "Raccoon Radio", and introduced with a cheesy mellow DJ voice, I went into a little more depth than I would normally be comfortable talking about, because I felt I owed a full explanation to my patrons. I don't think there'll be much interest in this, but I'm posting it up for archival purposes anyway.

Mid-October 2017 Patreon Update (Audio Edition)
This is the Mid-October Update, here, on Raccoon Radio.
Hello there. This is technically the September update, but obviously given the date, it's covering both that and part of October. I kept pushing it back because I wanted to have something to show, rather than just tell. But I don't want to push this back any longer.
I haven't had the time to work a lot on the project, although I've made some inroads. If you weren't aware, I'm prototyping a short "walk through a space station, follow a mini-story" sequence. Something basic to get a finished Unity project under my belt. I'm going to be using a different space station than the one I showed in the last video. I'm hoping to have Vix-N, your space companion, in a better state as well. The pieces are there, it's just the gruntwork of assembling them.
As for the delay, I don't want to be all "Oh, my cat died," but, uh... my cat died. Specifically, we had to put him to sleep because he was very clearly going to pass away soon. This followed after my GF's great aunt died (which basically raised her father), and one of her nephews died. (He had major birth defects, but still lived almost 2 years.) So... that was a whirlwind of suck. We were out of the state for a little while because of that, and pretty much came home to the kitty really starting to tank.
Money is still pretty tight. We're making it, but it's whiplash compared to earlier this year. You've probably noticed I've been running in a few different directions trying to generate some short-term income. I haven't produced enough to warrant donations, I'm not talented enough to do commissions, and the crap earlier this year has made me really concerned about going for traditional jobs around here. Maybe unreasonably so, but "Just buckle down and do it" is how I ended up as deep down the hole as I did. I'm fussing with a side idea (still gamedev related) that I might be working on with a partner, or partners, to sell at Conventions. That's not exactly Big Money, but it might be enough supplemental to make for a smoother time. I'll share more information once it's a little further along.
On the plus side, I've reorganized my workspace to be far more conducive to my needs, with an actual desk, even! I know, living the high life. Your Patreon funds also contributed toward a Deluxe Audio Strap for my Vive Headset, which makes the process of repeatedly putting it on and taking it off for testing a LOT easier and more comfortable. It's little things like that that can make a big difference, and I thank you.
As a reminder, if you signed up more recently, be sure to fill out the survey linked on the Thanks page, or send me a PM with the name you want to be credited with, or if you don't want to be credited at all. Patreon just added a new Account Notes feature, so it'll be easier to keep track of that, as well.
That's all for the moment. Thank you once again for your attention and support. This is Raccoon Radio, signing off for now. Stay sneaky, my friends.

"Laid Back" by John Leonard French
"Medieval Theme #1" by Andy Ray
"Peace in My World (Final Theme)" by Andy Ray
